The late-summer Hollywood dry spell continues this week, but Alex and Rorie do manage to wring a few droplets of conversation out of the latest releases, such as The Last Exorcism and Takers. Mostly though, we go through our latest and (not-so) greatest Netflix watches, catch up on the latest news, and answer more user questions than we know what to do with. Thank you, gentle listeners, for effectively making this week's podcast go!

Oh dear lord, what a miserable week for movies. Don't be surprised if we sound a little less-than-thrilled discussing the likes of Vampires Suck, The Switch, and Piranha 3-D, not to mention the colossal second-week failure of Scott Pilgrim. But it's not all dead roses and blacker than the blackest blackness, as we do have a bit of fun talking about our favorite subject (all things Star Trek), touch a bit on the recent movie news, answer an absurd number of your questions, and talk about future plans for punishing Netflix features and TV data. Oh yeah, we've got TV data now! |

Okay, okay, we know we said we'd be back to our normal Monday time this week, but Rorie came down with some kind of serious devil sickness (absolutely not contracted from hookers...just saying), and we HAD to have him on this week to talk about Scott Pilgrim, Eat Pray Love, and whatever other crap he felt like watching this weekend. Ryan Davis even felt like stopping by to chat about those topics, as well as The Expendables, the international differences between Wipeouts, South Korean thrillers, the merchandising hell of Star Wars, the litigious potential between alien invasion movies, and more! |

Rorie's back from his journey to the east, and bursting at the seams to speak of the cinematic treasures he experienced across the United States of A. Actually, he mostly just wants to talk about The Other Guys, but so does Alex! In addition to that fine film, we tackle Step Up 3-D, The Extra Man, Star Trek: Enterprise, Heist movies, the future of Avatar, The IT Crowd, Louie, sitcoms not named The IT Crowd and Louie, and more! |

It's pure Screened posse today as Alex and Rorie roll through the latest movies in theaters, discuss the merits of the leaked Thor trailer, bandy about the value of various talked-about remakes, spend an abnormal amount of time discussing season 3 of The Wire, answer user questions, and discover the limitless magic of Cop Dog. |

We're not going to lie to you all: This might be the best podcast we've ever done. It's not just because the illustrious and inviolable Eric Pope flew all the way across the country just to join us. It's not because we go wicked rip-shit all over Predators, Despicable Me, Cyrus, The Girl Who Played With Fire, Restrepo, Mel Gibson, Ed Norton v. Incredible Hulk, tear-jerkers, ratings systems and absurd computer hacking. And it's not just because this week's episode is a WHOPPING 89 minutes in length! It's all of these things, and then some. Behind the Screened Door! Episode 10! CATCH THE FEVER! |

The s*** just got real! Whiskey Media has moved into its new office, and we're cracking the champagne on the new podcast room! Sorry about the echo, we're working on it! Anyhoo, this week we are joined by not one, but TWO special guests as we discuss The Last Airbender, Twilight: Eclipse, Predators, the future of James Bond, the merits of Bad Boys II, the things that make us uncomfortable in movies, good cartoons for kids and adults, forgotten moments from Bruce Campbell's career, and more! |

On this bittersweet episode of Behind the Screened Door, we bid a fond farewell to intern extraordinaire Matt Lopez in the only way we know how: By talking about the latest in movies, TV, and everything else found on a screen! We talk about the latest movie releases, a few under the radar picks, season 2 of The Wire, the triumphant return of Futurama, the less-triumphant return of Sir Sean Connery, Smokey and the Bandit 3, and more! |

Do not adjust your ear holes! Despite the onslaught of comic book discussion, courtesy of Comic Vine's own G-Man, you are still listening to Behind the Screened Door. You may get more than your agreed-to share of Modok references this week, but dammit, this podcast is still all about new movies, new TV, and tangential nonsense, just the way you like it. Take a listen-see to hear us talk about Toy Story 3, Jonah Hex, Winter's Bone, crappy game shows, Marvel's short film business, and more! |

We love it when a podcast comes together! With half the Whiskey office off at some fancy video games show, Alex and the Matts are left to make trouble on their own. That trouble comes in the form of discussions about new movies, killer season finales, and more Mystery Science Theater talk than should ever be allowed on a podcast that isn't just about Mystery Science Theater. |

BtSD 06-07-2010
On this week's episode of Behind the Screened Door, it is a veritable EXPLOSION of mediocre movie releases as we talk about Get Him to the Greek, Marmaduke, Killers, and a pile of other junk. Also, some good movies are discussed, we touch on some of the latest news, and we answer your questions about film, TV, and whatever the hell else. Plus, one of Whiskey's Top Men joins Alex and the Matts for the fracas! |
|
BtSD 06-01-2010
This week on Behind the Screened Door, Alex and the Matts are joined by Giant Bomb's Brad Shoemaker, and we get down and dirty with Persian princes, sex-starved cougars, lackluster zombies, World War II miniseries, papal thievery, Carl effing Sagan, and more! |
|
BtSD 05-24-2010
In our third episode, we discuss the LOST finale, LOST as a whole, our feelings about LOST, predictions about LOST, LOST-related frustrations, and also, LOST. Oh, some movies get tossed around too, and we finally get around to answering your emails. LOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSST!!! |

BtSD 05-17-2010
Episode deuce of Behind the Screened Door finds Alex and the Matts joined by Vinny Caravella to talk about a metric ton of topics, including Ridley Scott's Robin Hood, espionage-themed French tomfoolery, barely-noticed horror flicks, the death of the police procedural, and homoerotic British sci-fi. |

BtSD 05-12-2010
On this, the debut episode of Behind the Screened Door, you get to meet Alex and the Matts, and Giant Bomb editor Ryan Davis stops by to discuss some of the best and worst movies of 2009, as well as some of the more memorable releases of 2010. |
edit: Awesome they answered my question!
edit 2: Not awesome Tuesday podcast
Actually the BBC produced a few solid movie history documentaries that are worth a watch.
Downloading now.
If you guys are looking for something good to watch on Netflix I recommend 'Revanche'. Here's the Netflix description of the film:
'In a ragged section of Vienna, hardened ex-con Alex (Johannes Krisch) works as an assistant in a brothel, where he falls for Ukrainian hooker Tamara (Irina Potapenko). They hope for escape, but their plans unexpectedly intersect with the lives of a rural cop (Andreas Lust) and his seemingly content wife (Ursula Strauss). Austrian Director Götz Spielmann's Oscar-nominated drama is a tense, existential, and moving portrait of vengeance and redemption.'
Teriffic movie.
I'm totally in line with your opinions regarding Roman Polanski and Woody Allen. It is very very strange how Hollywood has touted Polanski as the "misunderstood artist" when its all bs.
Woody Allen has ALWAYS scared me. His role in SLEEPER scared me as a kid. It may be judgmental on my part but I don't care.
That aside I am looking forward to renting Harry Brown as I missed it at the theatres. Michael Caine is the man.
*Looks at is avatar*
Did you get permission to use a segment of the Hoosiers soundtrack as your theme or did you just rip it off?
Sincerely,
Jerry Goldsmith
