yay
I hope I don't look too weird in this. Still not feeling great and I'm pretty sure I left underwear on my floor.
Great idea for a feature, can't wait to see the next one.
Haha the seconds of Rorie just making up noises and singing the word tonight... I love ya, Rorie.
Yeah, sure, I'll give this a shot! In a few weeks my semester is over so it'd be nice to have a book to read over break.
Yay! My being a grad student has kind of limited my reading time, but if there's some kind of deadline involved I think I can trick myself into thinking it's an assignment. Also, winter break has got to help. Getting right on getting ahold of this book! (I thought Lady in the Water was incredibly dumb, but delightfully so.)
Also - get well soon Rorie!
dude... yer back... gahhh.
also, you need/deserve a nice long vacay, Rorie.
The back cracking was satisfying for some reason.
Who PREMIUM content on screened. Money well spent
~$13 for the eBook version!? I'll only get this book because I like puppies.
@Rorie: I think if you and Dave could do a live podcast kind of like Radio Dave that'd be pretty cool. That way users who have read the book can call in with skype and throw in their two cents on the book too. Then of course just archive it for those who can't be there live. But then again I don't know if that'd be too much effort I don't think it'd need to be a video just the audio of you two talking and then the callers. But yeah this sounds like a great feature and I'd love to join in maybe next month when finals are over. Keep up the good work and get better soon, hope you find someone to help take some of the load of your shoulders soon you sound like you could really use it.
@Saryy42: I second this.
I don't know if I can take a few hundred pages of Shyamalan fellating himself and playing on the whole 'misunderstood genius' thing.
We all understand you, Shammy. We just think you suck.
And that Sidney Lumet book is great. I borrowed the shit out of that book from my local library. Never got around to buying a copy, though.
You're working too hard man. This is a cool idea, I hope to see more!
Rorie, is this the newest edition of the Teach Yourself Film Studies book you have? http://www.amazon.com/Film-Studies---Essentials-Yourself-Reference/dp/0071747729/ref=sr_ob_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321405394&sr=8-1
Amazon tells me it is, asking me if I want to "see the latest edition" when I look at the edition you have, but it has a different title so I'm a little unsure.
@Rorie: When I first saw this, I thought it was going to be a comparison between a movie & the book it is based on. But this is cool too.
loving these features Rorie, good stuff

That looks like it might be a newer edition. I bought mine a couple of years ago, though.
Thanks! I guess I should have looked harder because it says "4th edition" on the page.
Also, as far as recommendations go Hitchcock by Francois Truffaut: http://www.amazon.com/Hitchcock-Revised-Helen-G-Scott/dp/0671604295/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321407418&sr=8-1
Not sure if you ever want to include interview style books like this, but it's an absolutely fascinating and very in depth look at Hitchcock's work as told by the man himself, interviewed by Truffaut over several sessions.
