Holy crap, that was a terrible sequel. What do we do? We make another one and pretend the events of the previous movie never happened.
This is not to be confused with a reboot, which just starts an entire franchise over.  Films meeting this criteria will acknowledge a previously made film in the franchise while ignoring the other films in the series.
