1. Silent Film
The birth of film was in the late 1800s, and was a cumulation of many different discoveries by many different people. The Lumiere brothers are often cited as being some of the early pioneers of cinema, shooting short clips of everyday life, which they would screen to captive audiences in booths at carnivals and such. |

6. Neo Noir
Film Noir largely disappeared from the 60s on, but in past decades has re-emerged. The films which share traits with noirs of old are called Neo-noir, and are more self-aware than their predecessors, which emerged organically from a troubled social conscience. |
