Daybreakers (2010, Brittainy's Pick)

Doug's Thoughts - Hmm, I think this movie had really good intentions, but they lost their way somewhere along the way. It seems that they were stuck between making an thoughtful, intelligent horror flick and wanting to show off how they could do effects. The lame bat jump scares were also a little annoying and pretty much never worked. The daughter of Sam Neill's character was also kind of pointless, her story arc felt like they had no clue what to do with her at all. With all that negativity, I still think this is a pretty decent flick. Mostly held up by the acting of Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill. Oh, also Claudia Karvan was pretty good as well. Without the four of them, I don't think I would have liked this movie, the ideas were interesting, but kind of fell apart and were only held up by the acting. 3/5

Brittainy's Thoughts - I liked it okay, it was different than your average vampire movie or how vampires are in general these days with Twilight and True Blood. Liked how the majority of the population were vampires, that was unique. I thought Sam Neill was good in it and I thought Ethan Hawke was really good in it. I liked the look of the film, the bluish hint. The movie felt a little noirish to me. I really liked the ending. *wink* *wink* 3/5
