Screened Community Best of 2010
The following list was compiled by assigning point values to films ranked on top ten lists accepted from the Screened Community from December 23rd, 2010 to January 15th, 2011 via the forums.  65 total movies were nominated across all lists.  The following are the highest ranking 25.
1. Inception

Far and away the most popular film among the Screened community for 2010. Inception appeared on all but 4 lists and had a total score of 210. 210 points for best film of 2010?! Is this a dream?

2. The Social Network

Far removed from Inception's commanding lead, and beating the number 3 movie by only 2 points, Social network comes in #2 with a score of 155.

3. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Total score for Scott Pilgrim was 153, narrowly losing the #2 spot but still quite a bit ahead of #4. Congratulations to our top 3.

4. Toy Story 3

Pixar proves their appeal is broad by earning a commanding 101 points from the Screened community.

5. Shutter Island

Shutter Island didn't appear on a large number of lists, though those that counted it among their favorites generally placed it very high giving this early 2010 thriller 70 points and the 5th spot on our list.

6. Kick-Ass

52 total points for the action-comedy with the sailor mouthed 12 year old.

7. Black Swan

With a number of lists including a caveat that some of the last minute films were not yet released in a particular user's viewing area, I can't help but think Black Swan would have had more than 50 points in another month or two.

8. The King's Speech

The first of tie of the list and the only one in the top 10, The King's Speech received the same 49 points as Winter's Bone, but enjoy's a slightly higher ranking due to more #1 list placements than its competitor.

9. Winter’s Bone

Jennifer Lawrence and company scare up 49 points for this dark tale and earn a tie with The King's Speech.

10. True Grit

The Cohen's just barely squeak into the last of the top 10 with 43 points for True Grit.

11. Exit Through the Gift Shop

The only documentary to break the top 25 and one of only two to be nominated at all (along with Restrepo at #38,) Exit Through the Gift Shop earned 39 points from the Screened community.

12. The Town

Ben Afleck makes another list-worthy movie and the Town grabs 28 points from Screened users. I wonder when we stop being surprised at how good his films are.

13. The Ghost Writer

Regardless of how you feel personally about the man, Roman Polanski seems to have impressed at least a few Screened users this year. Ghost Writer received 24 points in the listing.

14. Four Lions

A film that many seem to have not seen yet, but that appeared feverishly high on the lists of those who have. Four Lions is #14 with 20 points.

15. The American

Mismatched marketing didn't fool the Screened community, who tossed 19 points to the American in a four way tie with the next 3 films.

16. The Fighter

Also receiving 19 points....NOT YOU.

17. TRON: Legacy

19 points also to flashy 3D and a shockingly competent story.

18. Easy A

Emma Stone won our hearts with the last of the four way tie films. Easy-A earned 19 points.

19. Let Me In

Chloe Moretz's second appearance on this list. This year's film derived from the same source material as Let the Right One In was expected to draw ire by many, but turned out to stand strongly on its own. 18 points for our number 19 film.

20. Mother

17 points for Mother and another win for Joon-ho Bong with the highest ranked non-English language film on the list.

21. 127 Hours

A long list of ties nearly wrap up the list. 127 hours made an old man faint and scored 15 points with the Screened community.

22. I Am Love

Just shy of Mother for highest ranked foreign language film, I Am Love joins the 4 way tie at 15 points.

23. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I

Wetting our whistles for the inevitable end, Harry Potter's Deathly Hallows Part I scored 15 points.

24. The Other Guys

A Few rabid fans won The Other Guys the last spot in the 15 point tie just shy of the list's end.

25. The Book of Eli

Just squeaking on the last spot in the official 2010 Screened Community Best of, The Book of Eli earned 13 points. Someone should probably go tell Whiskey Media friend and writer of the film, Gary Whitta that we like him, too.

Thanks for taking the time to do this man! Seeing Inception on the top isn't really surprising at all. I would have put 127 Hours on my list now that I've seen it. I wasn't expecting Kick-Ass to snag the sixth spot!

great job doing all this organising and tabulating.

Thanks for putting in the time and effort to do this. The write ups in the list are really well written and it must have taken ages to crunch all those numbers. I'm also super happy Scott Pilgrim and Tron are on this list because I really enjoyed seeing them in the cinema. Screened Community has good taste :D

Agreed on all accounts.  And thanks to all for the kind words.  This was a fun experiment that I hope we can rekindle next year!

Which reminds me, I still have to see The Social Network, which I now own the Blu-ray of. I don't think I'll like it as much as Scott Pilgrim, but the things I've heard about it so far have all been overwhelmingly positive.

I wasn't a Social Network fan myself but, I feel like the list is a pretty good representation of Screened at large...With some happy surprises in there, to boot.

Kick Ass is over Winter's Bone and 127 Hours? Fuck this site.
