General Discussion » Why doesn't Adult Swim have shows based on DC and Vertigo comic?
Something like this would be perfect.

@roger778: Prometheus 2 is lined up for 2014/2015. I would prefer this to come first, but if he's sticking to that deadline then that'll happen before this does.
This hopefully means he's on the drawing board for working on a feature. If not, he'll still be doing stand-up, and I believe he's still working on a CBS sitcom with Spike Feresten
It was released in two theaters in LA, and three in NY this week. A bit more coming Friday I believe (probably to the other big arthouse cities like San Francisco or Chicago)
nice list. really the only movie I've seen all the way through was Freddy Vs. Jason, and now that they are all on Netflix, I was considering doing some sort of a marathon. I guess now I know which one to pay more attention to
I think they're in the same timeline, just with a whole lotta retconning, just like how comic books do. Anyways, most of the stuff that was phased out was in X-men 3 and Wolverine, and I don't think a lot of people care about what story they change from those movies.
@cmpLtNOOb: yeah I'd say the movie does have a fever dream vibe to it, in the sense that it's kinda comparable to Punch-Drunk Love. It's not entirely "audience friendly," but it doesn't go Tree of Life levels, it's a relatively straightforward story told sorta slow-burn, and in the end not much grandiose happens, but is still very captivating. And yeah, I definitely need to "digest" what I saw. I'm anxiously awaiting seeing it again.
Last night, in case if you haven't heard, the first public screening for Paul Thomas Anderson's long awaited "The Master" happened at the Aero theater in Santa Monica. The screening before that was a DCP showing of The Shining, as they just installed a digital projector in a few weeks back and have been showing it off by screening various films in their remastered form. Before the screening, an usher told us that there would be a surprise screening in 70mm that would start 30 minutes after The Shining ended. Once it ended, it was announced that the movie would be none other than The Master and I flipped a shit. This being by far my most anticipated movie of the year, I turned to my friends and just said "we're staying, we have to stay." Apparently PTA was in the audience with Maya Rudolph, but I didn't see him.
Anyways, the movie was fantastic, and I need to see it again in theaters. And definitely to try to see in on a 70mm projection, it's effing beautiful.
The next morning I checked up movie blogs to see reactions, and this beautifully written tweet I made promptly after seeing the movie was featured on IndieWire and MovieCityNews. Weird.
I kinda just made this to gloat, but if you have any questions about the movie without bordering into spoiler territory I'll try to answer them.
While I was watching it 2 minor little plot things popped up for me:
1. When Thor and Iron Man was fighting, they left Loki completely alone. Probably not a good idea
and
2. When Iron Man guided the missile through the portal, why couldn't he have let go before entering the portal? B
Besides that; holy shit what an awesome movie. @Ghost_of_GhostDad: I think some people thought it was either Red Skull or Super-Skrull
Assigned seating has been the status quo in LA for a while, and sometimes it can be nice. We don't have any fork & screens here, however.
Yeah Nick doesn't have any new programming really and Spongebob has really only released maybe 5 episodes a year since like 2003.
Oh yeah Rorie I saw Kicking & Screaming last week and totally dug it. So that's something.
The spin-off isn't too far away I don't believe. A show that is sorta like Avatar (anime-inspired, mixture of dark and light humor) would be Samurai Jack, which isn't on Netflix though.
Bobby's Bike's Previous Owner - A new mumblecore sensation
The first episode of the new season had some misses, but I really enjoyed the 2nd episode. The actor who played Ron Moore was fantastic.
@ryanwho: The American version of TGWITDG was definitely more its own thing than Let Me In was. I really enjoyed Let Me In, but that was definitely based more off of the older movie than the book.
Inception made a good 700 million practically off of Nolan's name. TDK previously had the largest opening weekend before Harry Potter. I see no way TDKR won't be a billion grosser. I'm excited for the Avengers as well, but TDKR will gross miles more.
Pixar usually employs co-directors, I guess as a 2nd-in-command type thing. And since you brought up the Wachowskis, their new movie Cloud Atlas is being co-directed with Tom Tykwer, who did Run Lola Run, so that could be an interesting exercise in co-directing
