Heaven's Gate Getting Criterion Treatment - Are We Being Trolled?
on the Criterion Collection board.
It is a very important film in that it signified the end of the "New Hollywood" era, so I see why it is included. Besides, there are many other films that are in the collection that have less reason to be there, Armageddon for example.

I liked this movie quite a bit, probably not as much as you seem to have to. There's a point for me where it just sort of stops developing, I can't tell where for sure, I'd have to watch it again to explain it more clearly. I think it suffers from making its point clear way too early into the story.

Me! I study film, some of my shorts can be found here, they're in spanish so I doubt many of you will actually want to watch them.As far as inspirations go, the biggest for me are Kurosawa, Woddy Allen and Chaplin. Those are the people whose footsteps I try to follow when I write and make a short film.
