General Discussion » showbuzzdaily.com

I was just wondering if anyone goes to this site? I guess both sites are being run by the same person. I was wondering why there is so little content here, than went to the other site and didn't care much for it. Just wondering if people have found better place to get movie info / chat.

The 51st State » I think this movie is misnamed

I was randomly looking a Samuel L Jackson when I saw "the 51st state" having never heard of it I looked and than remembered the movie but with different name. Actors and plot are all the exact same. Really all you have to say is Samuel L Jackson running around in a kilt selling drugs. So either someone mislabeled this movie or it was released under 2 titles.

General Discussion » Is screened still alive?

does anyone still run or work on screened?? I hope nothing bad happened to Rorie. It seems like its been weeks with no new content and no word on if there ever will be. If nothing else what happens to the wiki, I don't really like rotten tomatoes , where should I go?

Is there anybody out there??

General Discussion » Netflix Instant - What's Worst Thing Going Away Feb. 29, 2012?

I have to suggest tron 2. The movie is very entertaining, better than the first, forget the first one. It's worth a watch so if you've never watched the first or second than check this out while you have a chance.

General Discussion » different kinds of reviews

As I look at the reviews I write and others on the site I believe there should be 2 different reviews. Alex and Rorie and others write full drawn out reviews. I on the other hand don't usually write more than 4 paragraphs (on the long side) about a movie. I don't break down every little thing I give a score a brief description about whatever the major points are. I'm prefer never to say to say too much about a movie, I would rather talk about a movie generally and leave it up to others to watch it or not.

This said I think there should maybe be two kinds of reviews, full blown reviews like alex and rorie and shorter simple score and justification reviews like mine or the "score the last movie you saw" thread. I think this would help build up more reviews on the site, which would help others on movies they don't know anything about. You could look up say Six Degrees Of Separation, you would find more short reviews with just scores and 1 or 2 long review telling you everything about the movie. just a thought

General Discussion » Do you watch movies if they are spoiled for you?

Think of it like watching something for the second time. I love usual suspects and I know what happens still watched it several times. The first time is probably best and that may be ruined but there's no reason to completely skip great movies. The second and third time around you can look for smaller details cause once you know the twist you can look for the give aways during the movie.

This only applies to good movies.

The Manhattan Project » People in movies watching movies

While I'm sure most of you have never seen The Manhattan Project, if your old enough or smart enough you know what the movie is about. Anyway at one point the 2 kids in the movie are watching the original Day the Earth Stood Still, I found it a little odd, and major foreshadowing. First of all the Manhattan project was in the 40's during WW2, day the earth stood still came out in 1951. There is also a Dr Strangelove comment and that movie didn't come out till 1964. This movie was made in the 80's, it's hard to tell when the movie is suppose to be taking place. Either way the movies they chose their characters to be watching on tv in the background were clearly intentional.

this movie is currently on netflix,...... don't watch it

The X-Files » key locks vs magnetic keys

Once again it's great to how easy it was back in the day to anything. Want to break into someone's room no problem, just stick a paper clip into the lock and turn. Now it's just as easy to break into a magnetic key lock door but you either need the key writen ahead of time or some random magic box. I never believed it when you would see people pick a lock in seconds, ask norm. While you don't need skill to pick a magnetic lock you do need more hardware. Who walks around with a key card reader/writer?

General Discussion » What's your Favourite Marvel film?

I've only seen Captain America once so far and liked it. Just watched iron man again for the 100 time the other day still great. The end may not be the best but at this point I fall asleep before the movie end anyway. I really like thor too. I was suprised how much I enjoyed it the second time, probably buy that next.

I love punisher, but both those movies were terrible.

The X-Files » old cellphones

I just got done watching In Time, it's not good, oddly though in that future no one has a cell phone. even the time cops or super rich don't have a cell phone. It would have helped out a few times if people all had them.

The X-Files » old cellphones

I find it funny watching older movies or shows and seeing people pull out these huge phone. People use to just put fake phones into movies and call them cellphones, but x-files used a bunch of real hi-tech phones for the time. Now no one thinks twice about it, need something wipe out your phone. I'm currently reading Intensity and this women is chasing after a serial killer, but has no way of contacting anyone cause she has no phone. Cellphones have made it easy to link anything:

How did he know that? googled it

how does he know where he is going? GPS

Does anyone yell "someone call 911"? No cause everyone has a phone

The X-Files » i love not watching commercials

I know what you mean about recaps, I was thinking of dragonball to watch those back to back would be terrible.

Also, no I never watched most x-files before, but have seen many. So far I'm only up to season 5, and already I'm more focused on the "main strory" line sometime skipping past random episodes. I don't know about the later seasons getting worse but I have seen both movies, and they sucked.

The X-Files » i love not watching commercials

I've been watching the x-files on netflix and I can't help but remember how much I love not watching commercials. The x-files have lots of big fade to black cuts where you know there is suppose to be 3 minutes of commercials but on netflixs as soon his it fades out it starts right back up. Also the are dozen of 2 and 3 part episodes, not having to wait a week is great I never plan to watch live week episodic tv ever again.
