I put "Red Dead Redemption" into Amazon, and yet the URL prominently featured this string: "sprefix=Diablo+3%2Caps%2C166"

For four years running now, Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles has been putting on an amazing show called Crazy 4 Cult, in which they get a lot of talented fine art people to produce prints, paintings, mixed media and sculptures inspired by their favorite cult films. The films they chose from are pretty diverse; some have since reached way beyond cult status, like the now phenomenon The Big Lebowski, and others are movies that really embody the cult spirit, like Weird Al's opus UHF. The pieces from last year's show can be seen at The Crazy 4 Cult: 3 blog, including my favorites, the incredibly eerie or hilarious family portraits done by Kirk Demarais.

In addition to all the brilliant pieces that are a part of the show, they also commission a poster to promote the show. Today, on the Gallery 1988 Blog, they revealed the poster for Crazy 4 Cult 4: The Case of the Redundant Number. It's pretty awesome:

Poor Snake... he's just wearing the 3-D Glasses so he doesn't feel left out.

The piece is pretty amazing. There's not a single character represented on this poster that's not totally iconic, and in a really classic movie. It's too many to list here, but if you're having trouble recognizing any of them, check the tags at the bottom of this post. What's more, I really like what I perceive to be commentary on the latest 3-D craze - we were doing 3-D first. The weirdos, the midnight viewers, the stoners and the childish. And none of you has made it more fun 3-D more fun than we did.

BUYING?: Probably not. As you might imagine, with this habit, I've got pretty limited wall space. And considering the real show goes up in about 3 weeks, I need to conserve my money and space for the pieces this poster is promoting. That being said, if there's nothing that beats this out, or the piece I want sells out, it would not be too shabby for me to hang this in my home.

For more on the upcoming show, look to the Gallery 1988 Site, their Blog, and the Crazy 4 Cult site, where details are going to be popping up soon. I'll also likely post the pieces I really love here.
