Netflix Instant Update: New and Expiring Movies - October 15th.
My most excited pick? ATM. Looked like a great dumb "tribute" to Phone Booth, and the fact that it takes place in an isolated ATM booth, something I've never seen before, makes me that much more psyched. What a dumb premise.

Pitch Black > The Chronicles of Riddick
on the General Discussion board.
I think they each have their own qualities. However, since Pitch Black started as a one-off (I assume), it didn't have to create a huge universe to support future sequels, which Riddick totally tried to do and stumbled with. I like them all the same, Pitch Black as a thriller, and Riddick as an action movie featuring a quasi-super-antihero.

Having delved into "movie theory", I somewhat understand the concept of "show only what's necessary". It may be argued that the omitted MI3 scene of Ethan actually getting the Rabbit's Foot wasn't necessary for the story, but a certain point, the director should be comfortable with saying, "This is an MI movie: fuck the story, get more slo-mo and infinite ammo!"

Jay Leno being not funny aside, this is yet another example of Muslims, or at the very least various sects of the religion of Islam, are fucking nutbags. Snubbed as it was, I'm glad Drive got the Sound Editing nomination. I don't know what actually qualifies as Sound Editing (composition? sound choice? ambient noise?) but everything auditory was near perfect - the songs were great (been listening to College - Real Hero pretty regularly now), the audio was both sharp and muted when need be, and most of all, the cars sounded like monsters which isn't as common ...
