So, it's that time of the year. The Eurovision song contest happened, taking place in Dusseldorf, Germany due to the winner of last years competition, Lena Meyer won with her catchy song "Satellite". A very worthy winner. This years ceremony was entertaining, giving us all the typical Eurovision-style features that we hate to love. 40+ year old presenters trying to be funny, but failing each and every time so it comes to the point of making us feel uncomfortably awkward. [Thank you to Skidd for putting the idea into my head to do this]

The Winner

This years winner was Azerbaijan (yeah, I haven't heard of it either) and their entry "Running Scared" performed by Ell & Nikki. It was a cute song, I'll give them that, the vocals were sweet, it was a nice ballad. I didn't think it should've won, but that's my opinion. I didn't feel their vocals were strong enough for a song like this.

I liked their outfits, the pure white captured the purity of the emotional song, although Ell's blazer should've been more tailored and fitted, then he would've looked perfect.

Italy came in 2nd place, with a very disappointing entry .. I have no idea how that song did well, it was boring, the vocals were solid at best, but it was nothing special. So unspecial that I'm not even going to post a video. You can look for it yourself.

Surprises

I was very surprised to see Ireland's Jedward do so well! - I really enjoyed their song and they give a pretty good performance (a good performance for Jedward that is) It was catchy, edgy and a cheesy pop song in a Eurovision sort of way. So glad they did good and beat England .. which was a terrible song. (I'm so unpatriotic XD)

Estonia came in 24th (2nd too last) - they had a very good song, it was "Rockefeller Street" by Getter Jaani. I thought it was very very catchy! and the vocals were great for a fun, toy-like song. It was a shame she didn't do too well this year, Estonia was definitely robbed. Plus, she did an amazing magic trick at the start! How the hell did she do that?!! - She's totally from Hogwarts.

Getter has my award for bets dressed. It suited the song, suited her age and looked very cute! it's no surprise she's at Fashion School. The hair could've been in pig-tails or something, just to give it a better effect.

Battle of the Beauty's

This year, we had a huge flurry of hot, younger men. It practically turned into a beauty contest (women included) Eric Saade representing Sweden is a beautiful, beautiful man ..

Russia had another very good looking performer, as did Greece. (: check them out on youtube.
