Description
We're post-sick (well, Alex is--Rorie's still near death) and pre-travel here at Screened, with each of us on the verge of flying east to various conventions. So forgive us if we're a little harried (and stuffy) today as we run down last week's big movies, discuss the current 3D climate, talk about the latest news, and take your questions as always. I promise that if Rorie isn't healthy by next week, I'll hold him down and inject him full of drugs. Not necessarily flu meds, or anything. Just drugs.

Resident Evil 2 User Questions (With abridged answers)
http://www.screened.com/profile/nofx4208/ I thought I'd start this... because I don't know. It's a very minute thing to notice, but has editing ever made you laugh... hard? (let alone laugh.) Quentin Tarantino and many other directors, like Edgar Wright (who is great at background audio editing) utilize quick cuts and whip pans and such to an advantage that is insanely comedic to me. Just saw Kill Bill 1 and 2 today- very hilarious moments. Another film that had hilarious editing was Hot Rod. And yeah, not just the cool beans part, which is still very funny.
Alex - It depends on the context. You can look at Edgar Wright's Hot Fuzz. The way that he shot and edited that film is pretty fucking funny considering what its trying to be. Matt - I have little to say on this matter. http://www.screened.com/profile/pickle/ Do you guys prefer shows with little continuity that you can just jump into (The Simpsons, Sealab 2021), or shows that require more dedication that you can watch for hours on end (The Wire, Dexter, Oz)?
Alex -
I defiantly prefer the latter but sometimes appreciate the former when its mixed in. Justified is a perfect example of this.
http://www.screened.com/profile/zamir/ Hey, Screenedcast (THIS THE THIRD I"M ASKING THIS QUESTION) what is your favorite and least favorite opening TV music, my favorite is the "Treme" opening music "The Treme Song" by John Boutté and my least favorite is from the show "United States Of Tara"'s opening music by Tim DeLaughter formerly of "Tripping Daisy" and now of "The Polyphonic Spree" I really don't like it and fast forward through it every time I watch the show, so what are some of your favorites all-time and least favourite
Alex -
The obvious answer to this question is undoubtedly the
animaniacs opening music.
Matt -
The chuck opening music is catchy, upbeat and memorable.
Matt -
I prefer the latter
http://www.screened.com/profile/pat4327/ I recently discovered that my roommate unironically thinks that Spiderman 2 is the greatest movie of all time, to the point that he will not even listen to any arguments to the contrary. My question is: do you think it's fair for me to say that he is objectively wrong? I realize that everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I feel that sometimes people's preferences are so ludicrous and blatantly absurd that they can only be described as "wrong". Thoughts?
Alex - Its a good movie, its one of the best marvel movies made.
Matt - Its a great movie http://www.screened.com/profile/finaldasa/ Hey Rorie and Alex,
Bad Boys just went off and 48 Hrs. is now coming on TV, with such great buddy cop movies on it makes me wonder what your favorite body cop movie of all time was?
Rush Hour holds a special place in my heart mostly due to Jackie Chan but Lethal Weapon has to take the cake for me.
Alex -
I think its
lethal weapon 2
http://www.screened.com/profile/redsox8933/ Can you guys recommend some starter Ingmar Bergman films?
Alex - Seventh seal isn't a bad place to stary but it can be somewhat of putting. Wild strawberries would be a very good place to start. Matt - Seventh seal can come off as very pretentious. I recommend scenes from a marriage. http://www.screened.com/profile/liquidswords/ Since you guys talked about post apocalyptic films, do you guys have a favorite pre-apocalypse movies? I guess films that threatened the whole planet. Whether its nuclear war, space invaders, or other mishaps. I remember as a kid watching The Day After (1983) and this scene scaring the crap out of me!
Alex - 12 monkeys. Fight Club kind of fits into this category. Matt - I have a few. Outbreak, fail safe
http://www.screened.com/profile/neochad/ I really love inventive music videos, and I was wondering how many SUPER PROLIFIC music video directors there are. I know that Hype Williams and (at least formerly) Spike Jonze are on the list, but who else?
Alex - michel gondry, Anton corbijn, Marco somebody , Michael bay Matt - Ridley Scott Glaring omission
David Fincher who directed such stars as. Madonna, Billy Idol, Paula Adbul, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Nine inch Nails, Jody Watley and not forgetting Michael Jackson.
http://www.screened.com/profile/hayamo/ I've recently been getting into kung-fu films with movies like The 36th Chamber of Shaolin and The Five Deadly Venoms. I was curious what your guys' personal favorite kung-fu movie as and what type of kung-fu movies do you prefer? (Bruce Lee serious business, or whacky Jackie Chan antics)
Alex - Most of my kung foo comes from the Bruce Lee school. Most of the Jackie chan style films I've seen have been the hong kong action style. The really balls out crazy Bruce Lee stuff is always worth watching.
Matt - Enter the dragon. http://www.screened.com/profile/whitebrightknight/ Anyway, throughout my school years I have read numerous Shakespearean works and watched their movie adaptations; both direct ones and reinterpretations. I was wondering what some of the screened guys favorite interpretations were, both direct and modernized. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Alex -
straight Shakespearian conversions just don't do it for me. I need something with a real hook.
Matt -
Thrown of blood is pretty much my favourite Shakespeare adaptation
