Show Description
For those of you who were brought down by our Captain Bringdown attitudes last week, fret not! We both took our happy pills this week, and come at today's film discussions with a kind of enthusiasm not seen since that one time Rorie was drunk...I'll leave you to guess which podcast that was. Anyhoo! This week we examine the failures of the latest Narnia flick and The Tourist, speak highly of The King's Speech, discuss our latest Netflix watches, tease a bit of discussion on TRON: Legacy, bemoan the impending release of Yogi Bear, and take a gang of user questions! It's a long 'un, but a good 'un!

with
Harry Potter reaching it's end this coming summer and
Twilight about to step into it's last book for the series with part one of 2, will "I am number 4" potentially be next in line for a new movie saga for teens and young adults in their 20's? i don't know if there is a book series or comic for i am number 4 but with the very model/ teen choice awards type cast they have in the movie, it looks to have potential in bringing in twilight and harry potter crowds just out of pure curiosity. does it have potential or is it just another movie sent into the february killbox to die?
Alex - God I f***ing hope not

How does Rorie feel about
Serenity? Personally I loved it, despite the fact that certain characters died. Also, tell Alex to watch
Firefly already!
Matt - I really like it

What movie(s) inspired you see to see film as more than just entertainment, but as an art form, and how old were you when this happened? Mulholland Drive, Eraserhead, and 2001: A Space Odyssey changed the way I treat the medium, so there must be at least one that sticks out in your mind.

What would you say the over/under is on
Inception Oscar nominations and wins?
I'd personally put the number at 9.5 nominations and 6.5 wins (with pretty well a clean sweep of the technical awards).
Also, based on those lines, would you guess over or under?
Information for the non-betting inclined: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Over-under
Alex - 5/6 Nominations
Matt - Mostly technical categories

What is your favorite subversive take on Christmas and the holiday season? I'm thinking of somewhat twisted stuff like Bad Santa, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Santa's Slay.
What is more played out: A Christmas Story airing on TBS for the 7,000th time, or the claymation Rudolph/Frosty/etc. Christmas specials?

I was wondering if any of you have watched the TV show
The Shield and if so what are your thoughts on it? If you Haven't I wholeheartedly recommend it, its right up there with The Wire for me and probably my favorite show.
Alex - Like the start, don't like the middle, love the end

This years oscar race seems to have strongest set of contenders in years. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a different best picture winner at every awards show. However, I think the oscar voters would be making the wrong choice in selecting in any film other than the social network for best picture. I thought it was by far the most important movie of the year as it is truly a sign of the times (though I have not seen the king's speech and black swan yet). Unfortunately, oscar voters have a habit of picking the 'safe' movie instead of the zeitgeist movie.
What do you think its chances of winning best picture are ?
And what do you think was the biggest mistake the oscar voters have made for best picture?

Quote(s) of the week
Alex - My balls have aged better than
Lawnmower man Alex - I'm settings aside next weeks podcast as a 7 hour podcast, in which 3 hours are dedicated to Yogi Bear and an hour to Tron and the rest is nothing but me making mastabotary sounds into the microphone.
Matt - If a bear talked to me I'd kill it!

To be honest I could be underscoring Alex this week, his educated potty mouth was rapid and entertaining which made keeping an accurate tally difficult.
