The Pacific » Thoughts on The Pacific?

@BradGrenz: I'd give my response but this guy pretty much nailed down my exact thoughts. Haven't watched the final episode yet though. Overall, the series was a touch underwhelming.

25th Hour » 25th Hour: How'd you feel about the ending?

This has for years been my favorite film. Some people I've shown it to, though, are unsure about the ending.

Specifically, does the ending presume that Monty did in fact go into hiding, or did the shot back to him in the car after the dream-like scene of the unrolling of his life outside of prison show that he did in fact go to prison? Or does it just leave it up in the air? I think it basically ends undecided.

What did you guys think of this movie in general?

Kings » KINGS: Anyone else bummed this show is gone?

Did any of you watch KINGS on NBC for it's one season run?

In my opinion, it was the best show on television during it's brief run. It was able to take a very medieval idea of a King and apply to modernity very seamlessly. You believed it. Great acting, solid story. It was a shame it didn't get picked up by a network with a little more faith in higher minded dramas, like AMC.

And I think that's really why it got cancelled. The viewership was so low because I think a lot of people didn't 'get it.' For a lot I'm sure the Biblical references might have seemed strange, and the Shakespearean tone was probably a repellant as well.

Best scene from Season 1: When David was on the palace grounds and was 'named' true king by the crown of butterflies while King Silas watched on. Very moving, and totally set the tone for the rest of the season with the David-Silas relationship.

Did any of you guys check this show out?

Pawn Stars » Does anyone watch Pawn Stars?

@Ryax: PEACHES, that's her name. Thanks for reminding me. How can you not have a girl on a show more when her name is PEACHES? That's adorable. ha.

The Office » Do you still watch The Office?

@billabong7329: I wasn't a big fan of last night's episode, and this season as a whole is kinda lacking.

I think the writers on the Office are complicating things. The comedy in the early seasons of the office revolved around simple ideas. Jim and Dwight couldn't stand each other. Jim messed with Dwight. Jim liked Pam. Michael was an idiot and terrible with women. Now the story lines are just way too broad and the comedy just isn't there anymore really.

Remember when the episodes would start with Jim pulling a prank on Dwight; don't see that too often anymore. And if Carrell leaves the show will probably die.

What's your favorite episode everyone? I'd probably say The Dundies, Season Two premiere. Or the Fun Run (Race for the Cure to Rabies). That was pretty hilarious too.

Pawn Stars » Does anyone watch Pawn Stars?

I was really into this show when it first came on, but since I've kinda fallen out of love with it. It lost the organic comedy that was so charming about it, and now has reverted to just reinforcing the personalities over and over again. The saving grace, though, is that there is some pretty damn cool items brought into the store. I especially like when they refinish old Americana items like Coke machines.

Getting kinda tired of the whole Chumlee bit. And they should probably play up the girl that works there a little bit more.

Mad Men » Initial thoughts on Mad Men Season 3

@DrakeAsh: Yeah, end of season 3 is really well done and totally gets you pumped for 4. You made me remember to order season 3 actually, just got the Blu Ray and will dig through it again before 4 starts up.

What a great series.

Pushing Daisies » Pushing Daisies... yay, or nay

Thought the first season was pretty good. I really liked the feel of it, and the narrator was a real nice touch. Kinda fell off it at season 1 though.

Off-Topic » Have you ever been on the big screen?

I remember I tried out to be one of the school kids in Matilda back in the day. The tryout brought a ton of families out with some pretty extreme kids. My parents saw it more-so as a day out in San Francisco than a try out. Regardless, it scared me pretty badly standing in front of some adults talking about myself when I was 10 yrs old.
