DrMadHatten (Level 14)

Reading Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy since I'd have to go to Illinois to see the movie.

Been There, Seen That

To the best of my bad memory, these are the movies that at least came up as me having seen them. It's ever increasing in size
1. Red

If you're going to tell me that the old guys are bad-ass, they need to kill more people, period. Frustrated, but entertained.

2. Fright Night

No no don't bite me...wait...I'll take my top off...okay now you can bite me.

3. Rosemary's Baby

Oh hell, literally. So much Satan

4. Ayn Rand: A Sense of Life

A documentary of my favorite author. It was excellent and someday I will own it.

5. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I

Thoroughly impressed! Adheres to the maturity of the audience (unlike Star Wars prequels) and does so well in aging. Great risks that I loved in the end. Some amazing special effects.

6. TRON: Legacy

Had a fun time with special effects. Lots of plot holes

7. Black Swan

The best movie of 2010 in my opinion. Darren Arronofsky does it again.

8. True Grit

A pretty damn good repeat, but to me it shows how much film style has changed since the original.

9. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

So oppressively happy and family-tied, I sat in the theater rubbing my eyes at how boring it was

10. The Fighter

Christian Bale did an excellent job

11. The American

Super slow, intense, and not at all what the trailers showed

12. In the Loop

If our politicians are like these guys, we're in trouble

13. Winter’s Bone

I don't ever want to live in the Ozarks

14. Restrepo

A documentary filled with emotional ups and down and nearly zero political commentary, thank God.

15. The Good, the Bad, the Weird

A simple plot about a map that allows for a ridiculous two hour non-stop action movie and a thirty minute chase scene.

16. Superman / Batman: Public Enemies

Why was there a spaceship of half batman and half superman? They didn't even know they were going to be involved

17. Good Morning, Vietnam

Use the Vietnam war so Robin Williams can play Robin Williams. And I still liked it.

18. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

So many people got shot. Great narration by Robert Downey Jr. and great bad-ass work from Val Kilmer.

19. Exit Through the Gift Shop

This man took street art, saturated it, copied it, and became a cultural icon overnight. And he did nothing. What an amazing story you have to see to believe

20. Insomnia

This was so bad I forgot to put it on the list. Robin Williams cannot be a bad guy murderer and just because it's bright outside doesn't mean you can't get any sleep.

21. L.A. Confidential

Russel Crowe and Guy Pearce should do more stuff together. Almost as Noir as you can get.

22. Gosford Park

A brilliant slow broil of a movie. I extremely enjoyed this serious take on a murder mystery.

23. Network

Either things haven't changed since 1976 or this movie foretold the future in the most detailed way imaginable. This movie is scary how true it feels for our life today.

24. The King's Speech

It was a great movie. Not in my top five but it will probably win best picture for 2010

25. Let Me In

Best Vampire movie I have ever seen or will see. I was on the edge for the entire time

26. The Brothers Bloom

Crazy good movie! Featured Brodyquest himself and Mark Ruffalo and carried me through the entire length. Con on Con on Con

27. Snake in the Eagle's Shadow

Amazing choreography in one of Jackie Chan's first flick, and my God does he look like a man in this. Awkward Eastern Humor is assured

28. Never Let Me Go

Probably the most sad movie I've seen since The Good Shepherd. Excellent movie though.

29. A Serious Man

One of the most dry movies I've seen ever. And that guy from Boardwalk Empire is in it!

30. Battle: Los Angeles

Seizure inducing camera work and horrible attempts at sentimentality make this less than a standard invasion movie.

31. The Green Hornet

If you can get past some awkward movie moments this film will be enjoyable, at least if you go to a dollar theatre like I did.

32. Paul

I loved it. Paul is one of the best alien characters ever written. I'm also a die hard fan of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost

33. Chinatown

Slightly disappointing actually. We'll see how much this comes into the L.A. Noir video game

34. Sucker Punch

Surprisingly deep story. Astounding effects, fight scenes, and grime, this may turn into one of my favorites for 2011.

35. The Fountainhead

This movie was so melodramatic it was hilarious. Big fan of Ayn Rand, but I feel there is a generation gap that made this one of the best comedies ever made.

36. American Splendor

Movie with Paul Giamatti playing a comic book writer who writes about the complicated features of simple living. Pretty damn good

37. The Lincoln Lawyer

Pretty standard law movie with some bad camera work and awkward hilarious cliche moments.

38. Source Code

This movie was awesome! Definitely allowed multiple twists, and Jake Gyllenhaal carries the film's acting. Combined humor, action, and emotional dialogue together that made me happy to see it in the theatres

39. Scream 4

Yea, watched it and loved it. Comedic to say the least, and I totally dug the twists.

40. Atlas Shrugged: Part I

So much business. They took my favorite novel and made it boring and trivial.

41. Million Dollar Baby

Watched this a long time ago but I guess I forgot to put it up. Watched it recently and again realize Morgan Freeman should narrate everything.

42. Zodiac

Probably my favorite David Fincher movie, Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey Jr. are a great combination.

43. Se7en

Can't believe I didn't add this movie either. Yes, I watched this...and it's awesome

44. Once

Take these broken wings and make them...something...we still got time!!!!

45. The Black Dahlia

What a terrible movie, and it wasn't any better drunk, like many other things.

46. From Hell

Not as bad as Black Dahlia. Although it was rich in atmosphere, its twist was just dumb.

47. The Sensation of Sight

I enjoyed the character study, but felt there needed to be more of a centralized plot. More of a character based movie. Still good though.

48. Fast Five

loud and proud. script was terrible. action was great. Usual stuff.

49. An Education

While the dialogue was fantastic, every character got what they wanted. Not much change there...still enjoyable.

50. Following

The moral: don't ever follow someone...ever

Fellowship of The Ring is my favorite of the LOTR trilogy as well.

I just watched The Game recently, I didn't quite know what to think.  I like every David Fincher movie I've seen, I liked that one too, I just didn't know how much I was gonna have to suspend my disbelief for it.  If I think of it as a straight thriller I see it as too flawed because it's too damn implausible.  If I think of it as a dream/morality tale then it's way better.  Either way I haven't really seen any other movie toy with the audience the way The Game does.
