DrMadHatten (Level 14)

Reading Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy since I'd have to go to Illinois to see the movie.

1. The Good Shepherd

Nothing beats this in my opinion. A great ORIGINAL depiction of the loss of a man's spirit through his decisions and American History.

2. Finding Neverland

Cannot go wrong with Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, but Freddie Highmore takes the cake. Yes the script gives him the most adult sounding dialogue, but Highmore takes it and wrenches audiences apart with it

3. V for Vendetta

Remember remember the fifth of November. The movie that started the hobby was really this. In high school, realizing that I had missed too many movies got me to start the whole shenanigans in the first place.

4. Black Swan

This movie was everything I wanted it to be. Natalie Portman shows herself as an amazing actress and definitely took this movie and ran with it. The blurring of real and illusion and the blend of intense psychologival thriller and beautiful dance blends well.

5. The Fountain

The amber color, the score, and the symmetrical cinematography did this for me. Killer performance by Hugh Jackman as well

6. Up in the Air

Why this won close to nothing I'll never know. This movie really pulled Anna Kendrick up from the Twilight well, and was a great movie in the context of current history.

7. The Shawshank Redemption

Classic tale of friendship. After seeing it so many times on TV I finally bought this, so i could get the full experience. I wasn't disappointed

8. Hot Fuzz

My favorite comedy. Shaun of the Dead was a close second but the build up to the absurd finish is something really hard to pull off in comedies.

9. No Country for Old Men

Featuring no soundtrack and the pursuit of a killer without reason. This movie stunned the hell out of me when I watched it, especially the existential ending.

10. Watchmen

read the graphic novel after seeing the trailer. I hoped it would be close to the source material, and Zack Snyder, with the exception of leaving out Rorschach's past, and the ending, nailed it.

11. The Aviator

If any fan of Ayn Rand could place their philosophy on a movie, it wouldn't even be the recent 2011 Atlas Shrugged movie. It would be on this piece of art.
