The Other Guys » The Poster

All of the promos that feature the Ferrell and Wahlberg show them jumping through the air firing their guns.  Wahlberg was just in Max Payne, which turned out to be a rather unpopular videogame movie, largely on account of the movie's lack of dependence on the source material, namely jumping through the air firing his guns.

To me, this poster seems like a huge running joke of Wahlberg "making up" for not doing what Max Payne did in the games.  It certainly seems like something he and McKay would do.  Does anyone else get the same feeling?

General Discussion » Scariest movie characters

Speaking of Sexy Beast, the scene in the restaurant when Ian McShane's character denies that Ben Kingsley called, and he has that amused look creeping onto his face, is insanely unnerving.

Inception » Thoughts on Ending (SPOILERS!!!!!!)

I don't think he is.  I have a few reasons, but I need to think for a while.  This movie was such a trip, it could really go either way for a massive number of reasons.

General Discussion » POLL: Which of these moviegoers do you hate the most?

The seat kicker.  Last time that happened I turned around to tell the kid to stop kicking my fucking seat.  He got scared and his mom tried to complain but I didn't get kicked out because the kid was causing a disruption.  I win.  Still, I hate seat kickers.

Invader ZIM » Invader Zim on Instant Queue

I was thrilled to find Invader Zim on the Instant Queue.  Even better, the show hasn't gotten any less funny since it was on Nickelodeon.

Who else here is a fan of the misadventures of Zim and Gir?

TV » Shows that have overstayed their welcome.

@ArchScabby said:
" The Office frustrates me so much, because with Season 6 they show that they can still make an incredibly funny show, but most of it wasn't.  Some of the  episodes in season 6 were amazing and I was laughing the whole time, but then the next week the episode would be horrible and the most I would do was chuckle.  It was really inconsistent in the comedy department. "
It's a shame, most sitcoms are like that anymore. For me, Family Guy is the absolute worst offender when it comes to comedic inconsistency.

TV » Which Show is Funnier?

Stewart is funny but Colbert is a more entertaining character.  I think it really depends on whether you prefer outrageous comedy with some politics, or political satire with generous comedy.

DVD » Strait to DVD movies

Not only do you save hundreds of thousands of dollars on marketing, distribution, etc, so it may be advantageous to decide on making a B-movie from the start, so budget can be more allocated to the film itself.  Of course, there are also some movies (like Unthinkable and House of the Dead) that were intended to be in theaters but never got a distributor.

Direct-to-DVD films have a niche market, and many of them have a decent cult following.  I learned of Ink through its massive underground fanbase, and I just happened upon The Tournament at my workplace.  Though low-budget, I enjoyed them both enough to recommend to every fantasy and action fan that comes through.  I've made many fans of them as a result.  My point is that word-of-mouth is extremely important.  My Big Fat Greek Wedding was made on an indie budget, as were Little Miss Sunshine, El Mariachi, and others (and were not intended to have widespread releases), but someone took notice.  I think for indie films, the consumers are incredibly important (more so than for bigger movies) for helping the film get recognized.

That's how it was for me as well.  Eventually I just sat down and said, "OK, I'm watching this fucking movie right now."  Did not regret.
