@jennoa: The savages line is taken verbatim from a NY Times article about that actual event (see this interview with Matthew Weiner). It might be overdramatic, but that's how it was reported back then. Whether it was the reporter fluffing it or the person playing it up for the story drama...well, I don't have a time machine.

@Rorie Pretty sure the old video cuts in because the guy filming is taping over it. At least that's what I think the conceit is.As for what I think of the movie? I liked it. It's flawed and it's not my favorite monster movie, but I liked it a lot.
