What is wrong with the smallville writers? I mean this season was literally one of the laziest written seasons of any show Ive ever seen.. aside from the fact that about half the episodes this season were just rip offs of popular movies (The Matrix, Hangover)  and then a finale that feels like they threw together after coming home from a night out. Granted there were lots of elements of this that I loved, Apokolips descending on Earth was great, looked fantastic and had great imagery, Clark moving it Im not really decided on.. yes its great for the people of metropolis who happened to catch that blueish blur and they knew it was their hero... but who else would?? Really how would that lift the dark marks?

Lex returning was terrible... really terrible, for some reason Darkseid helped Lionel.. why was that? And Lex actually knowing he's the badguy?? NO!!! bad guys don't think they're the bad guys (except the joker and some few exceptions...) through whatever twisted logic of theirs, they think they are the good guys. Lex in Superman Returns did a good job of this, he showed that had a reason for hating Superman, but Lex in this finale.. was literally like "Hey Ya Im evil.. and I have these plans... and Ill always lose to you" wtf really.. like who the hell wrote that and said ya thats good writing, this is a good and believable villian, because they should be shot. And that neurotoxin? I may be wrong but I can't remember that being in smallville ever before..

And what happened to the female furies?? Did the writers just forget about them??? I didn't forget about them...  They had the opportunity for an absolutely amazing epic scene where all of earths heroes to unite to battle the furies, granny goodness and darkseids crew on the streets of metropolis.. while superman battles Darkseid over head... but instead they just have them burst into smoke? WHAT THE HELL!!!... like really WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!?!?

Basically what I wanted to see in the smallville finale was something along the lines of Apokolips descending on Earth, Darkseid becoming corporeal (ideally voiced by Michael Ironside). Then he takes control and starts making people worship him by using the dark marks. When the world is in its darkest hour Clark has the moment of realization of what he needs to do and learns how to fly and stuff, then he dons the suit and him and the justice leaguey weagueys show up to defeat darkseid who has conviently set up shop in metropolis, while superman battles him, Green Arrow, Tess, AC Flash and Zatanna, Black Canary etc take on the furies, granny goodness, and darkseids crew.

Earlier in the episode Tess finds out a perfect clone of Lex, believing himself to be the real deal escaped a year or so ago or something and returns with partial memories, doesn't remember clark is superman but he has an intense hatred for superman, and subsequently kills lionel before he can tell him anything about superman/ultraman etc. Clark defeats darkseid, pounding him into shit, which Lois captures on camera and broadcasts to the world and then the dark marks are lifted and the world has a new symbol for hope and prosperity. Then Apokolips disappears in the sky, the league people think its because they defeated darkseid, in actuality its clone Lex who's been monitoring the situation for the past few weeks who had been working on a way to save the planet too.. he somehow got a boomtube control thingy belonging to one of darkseids crew and used it get rid of apokolips, he then vows the show the people of the planet that they shouldn't worship superman, he's an alien and dangerous like darkseid not human, prometheus stealing fire from the gods and some superman returns malarky. And Smallville ends with Superman busting Pete for dealing...

Maybe its because Im a microbiologist, but that sounds like a much better ending then what they came up with.... and that took me like ten minutes, I know that they had budget issues because its television and not a feature film, but its a writers job to work around issues like that.
