This Week I Saw "The Other Guys" & The Trailers Were:
First up, some Retired Extremely Dangerous assassins are being targeted by other assassins in a plot you've probably seen before, it's "Red":
Is it just me or did this movie most likely give away all the money shots in the trailer? If this is not the case, then sign me up for more because those were some totally awesome (and ridiculous) money shots. Bruce Willis stepping out of a car while it's spinning and shooting a guy in the head, all before the car spins back around? Now that's the Bruce I know! Still, God only knows that all four of these actors have picked bad projects before, (Helen Mirren, I'll never forgive you for your involvement in Inkheart?) but all of them together? That's almost too good to pass up... But the plot will probably be terrible, Mary-Louise Parker will probably be annoying and... Oh Hollywood, you've made me such a cynic! Screw it, there's no action movies in October. I'm in.
Box Office Prediction: 110 Million Total
Anticipatron Rating: 4/5
Drew Barrymore is in yet another romantic comedy, and this time she's dragging Justin Long in with her, it's Going The Distance:
Alright, this is certainly romantic comedy garbage, but I'll admit it, I laughed. But hey, with Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis & Jim Gaffigan in your cast, how could you not? There could certainly be worse options to take your girlfriend on a date, but hey, Scott Pilgrim will still be in theaters, right?
Box Office Prediction: 30-40 Million Total
Anticipatron Rating: 2/5
Next up, for a trailer I've seen a hundred times this summer (not by choice) and for a movie that's coming out NEXT WEEK, it's The Expendables:
Okay, so the cast is good.... What else do you have? Really, your film is releasing in a week and that's the only thing I know. Still, that cast IS pretty good.
Box Office Prediction: 80-90 Million Total
Anticipatron Rating: 3/5
Finally, Jesse Eisenberg think he's so very special when he's actually a creep, it's The Social Network:
I've never gone to the theater to see a drama before, but damn it, this trailer sold me! Face it, it's going to be a work of art, and we have Mr. David Fincher to thank for it. Not only will it be about the compelling, but fictionalized account of the tumultuous creation of Facebook, but I also get hints that the movie will try to dive a little into the social ramifications of the website, it's universal appeal, plus we get Jesse Eisenberg portraying a megalomaniac, but also a super-douche. What's not to love? I think it has the potential to really break out box office wise, especially if this is seen as an Oscar contender.
Box Office Prediction: 90-100 Million
Anticipatron Rating: 5/5
