Foggen (Level 22)

I had this strange dream last night where I was half-watching, half-participating in this city disaster situation that felt very much like a movie. At one point a man and a woman were trying to climb onto a boulder or displaced chunk of asphalt when the woman began slipping and, having been hauled up by the man, collapsed on top of him. They started kissing, and at that moment I became aware that the internet was also watching this story with me, as I heard/read/saw a comment to the effect of “here’s another one of the WNIB moments in this story”.

This caught my attention, and I did some quick (internal) research to discover that WNIB stands for “Why Not In the Bushes?”, which describes that moment in movies, &c when two people fall on top of each other following an accident or a fight or to avoid an explosion or something, then spontaneously decide to (or look like they’re about to) start making out with one another, with the implication that they would like to go have sex in the nearby foliage or right where they lay. The most immediate example I can think of is Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock at the end of Speed, but I feel like this is something that happens all the time, especially in action movies.

Why not, indeed?

On waking, I pulled out my phone to google WNIB and found no mention of it in the context I’ve described. It seems my subconscious has created this idea on its own, and I am somehow enthralled with the idea that it should be a thing.

So I guess I’m declaring it.
