1. Big Night
This movie is completely magnificent. Whenever I hear people refer to Tony Shalhoub as "that guy from Monk" I want to stab them with this movie. I have in the past shown people this movie and waited for them to comment on it so I could tell if their taste was worthy. |

2. Smoke
Among other things, Harvey Keitel tells a long-take story in this movie that is simply epic. |
3. The Big Kahuna
3 salesmen share a hospitality suite. One of them is Kevin Spacey. The end. |
4. Dogville
A brutal parable filmed on an empty soundstage with no individual sets besides the outlines of walls painted of the floor. Lars von Trier is a maniac. |
5. Other People's Money
I might not have picked this one out had I not seen the stage production first. It's an interesting story about the personal side of Leveraged Buy-Outs. |

6. Interview
This is Steve Buscemi's remake of a Theo Van Gogh film. A political journalist finds himself interviewing a young actress. Neither knows what to do with the other. Interesting, but slow. |
7. Reservoir Dogs
Quentin Tarantino may be a movie man making movie movies, but 90% of Reservoir dogs could be put on a stage with no problems. The dialogue is amazing, and for most of the movie it's literally all there is to watch. Harvey Keitel is amazingly good at this kind of thing. |
8. Frost/Nixon
Frank Langella and Martin Sheen reenact one of the most important and famous political interviews in American history. Langella once played Skeletor, so this isn't that big a departure. |
9. The Human Stain
Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman have dark secrets in this strange and quiet movie. I see what I did there. |
10. 12 Angry Men
A jury deliberates. |
