" I liked it over all.  I sort of felt like it was a commercial with the music and the attention to the phone (kept waiting to hear an announcer tell me about the latest HTC etc) but that isn't a bad thing.  For it being 2 minutes you told a story that had a beginning middle and end.  Loved the way you did the breakfast scene though a grease fire would have fit nicely.  Do you have many more of these that you've done?  I'd love to watch more of your work (as an aspiring film maker myself). "

Thanks :)

Err no that was my first film... i have written others and im planning to film one in december during christmas hols.  As soon as they are done, ill post them up. :)

The camera that was used was like a Canon 2ti i believe, but the dude spend like 1.3k on the camera (practically all his student loan and more)

If you wanna be a film maker, just make them - they can be good or crap, but the more hours you spend learning the better you will become. To be fair, film making has taken over my life,
i spend my entire lectures and tutorials just designing story boards for random ideas i have in my head - like where id put the camera and why.... I also do random shit like, ill hear a song on shuffle on my ipod and ill think OMG, this would totally work at the intro of a film, then ill try and design a story board around it.
I've tried twice to change my course to film making, but apparently its full :(   But its not going to stop me

Im also hoping to get a internship at any company where i live (manchester) just so i get more experience, i dont mind not being paid because im not looking for money just experience.

So to sum up, just film, film and film  and read up. When i havent been filming, ive just been making storyboards to films i want to make and reading up on all the technical aspects of film.

General Discussion » My short film

Basically, we needed to make the film short and have it filmed within 1-2 hours. But i spent almost 4-5 hours planning and doing the story boards (if you cant draw like myself, they take a ridiculously long time even for a film that is 2 mins long)

We were mainly just experimenting with different shots, but we had the general idea that we wanted to keep with close ups or extreme close ups. We also originally wanted it to start of slow, start to increase the speed of the cuts so that its really quick, then slow down at the end.

Basically, the ending symbolizes that even though lots of stuff has gone wrong or is going wrong (we planned for the dude to get fired from his job, almost get hit by a car - the car bit that we filmed didn't look realistic enough) that there is always the future to look forward to (really corny, but we were using a basic idea)

And  this was my first film

As for the rainbow, it was affect effects i believe - but i would have to ask the editor to get a defo answer

Thanks :)

Basically, the phone bit was me being dumped by girlfriend , but due to the sun and the fact we didnt really want to get the camera in the reflection made it hard to get a good shot

And the bag is cool as well :)

" Back in high school, my friends and I once had a debate about who was the greatest action hero star, so we decided to try and work it out "scientifically". Being the nerds we were/are, we made out a big list, which included all the action movies the star had made. We gave each of the actors "stats" and had them duke it out with a quasi-Dungeons & Dragons style roleplaying battle.

We made a big tournament style bracket and gave each star one single-use "power/special move" from each of their movies. Despite a few early upsets, Sir Arnold unsurprisingly took home the championship.  So, to answer the question: Arnold vs. anyone else you can name? Arnold wins. "
