You know, I could have accepted it... but the casting of the third brother is so bad, there is no way this movie could end up being decent.

@Nightriff: I guess I would have let it slide if it weren't for the other problems...

@monoceros4: I agree. Timm's Superman was the best adapted version in a long time.Although, to be fair, the antihero trend is far older than what you think... At least 20 years old (ever since The Dark Knight and Watchmen)

@Nightriff: In my opinion, because it was a remake of the original without never acknowledging. Also, all the characters were... out of character (no pun intended); and the son story was dumb.

I wasn't a fan of the first Expendables... but even I know the only way this movie works is if it is as hard an R as they can get.

@KJ said:I'm Mr. Killjoy and here's my question. Will this be stupidly funny the second time around? Can't think of any good comedy sequel.Just saying...Austin Powers 2 was pretty good. Also, the Naked Gun 2 1/2...

I remember the animated Star Wars. I think it was better than the new CGI version, but Lucas refused to consider it cannon. The movie sounded interesting-ish, until you mention the cast. Now I will run from it like it was the plague.

Its nice to see this movie will have a story instead of the classic Cohen sketch: an over the top character trying to force reactions out of people...

Did anyone see the CGI TMNT movie from a few years ago? Worth checking out?I thought it was pretty good, not much to add, only that is quite better than the average of CGI movies...Paramount marketing changed the name. They made the title simple. That is definitely not the right way to start a conciliatory speech...

hermes commented on Rorie's staff review The Hunger Games.
After I read the first book, I was disappointed about the "social commentary". Not that it wasn't there, or I didn't noticed it; but I don't think it was rather shallow. I agree with most of the points you make during the first paragraph, so I guess its not surprising Ross come to this adaptation.

I admit the premise is interesting, but considering the writer is the woman who turned evil, blood-sucking demons into cool, stalking, emo-looking adolescents; I will pay no attention to the hype.

The worst thing is that I can see this turning into a very successful franchise, the same as the chipmunks did.Yeah, it will be a sad day indeed...

I disagree, Rorie. I believe camp and self-awareness are the only things that can save this from being another Van Helsing.

So, its another Burton movie about a kinky and extravagant but lovable, out-of-the-water character in an otherwise regular world, starred Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, and slightly based on an old property (while completely missing the point) ? It sounds like the same movie I have seen dozens of times... The only thing missing is Danny Elfman (which I think will be fixed after shooting)I used to love Burton's ...

@phoenix87x said:What a great movie. Nowadays that would all just be CGI glass. Then again, in some scenes its painfully obvious is not real glass.

I hope its good, although I recently read the book, and can't imagine how someone can adapt it...

@Autechresaint said:Apparently Rorie never had to sit through Love Guru..Ohh, my. That movie makes Grown Ups look like art.I wouldn't call this movie "the worst of the decade" myself, not when we are only 3 years into this decade and Grown Ups 2 looms in the horizon.

I am not sure which one was the first I noticed he wasn't funny. Probably the first one I saw when I wasn't 14.The most disappointing would be Anger Management, though... Its one thing to throw your acting career down the drain, Sandler, but did you also have to drag the career of one of the greatest actors alive?

The sensitive thing would be to change the script to make it about robbing something else from someone else, maybe even make him a fictional celebrity. Or, at least, using someone to act as him but never show his face (either obscure it or shoot to his back). Then again, that is not as funny as imagining Eddie Murphy using a lot of make up to perform as Cage.

I hate a lot of things about British people, but the way they say "lieutenant" is the absolute worst.
