General Discussion » Because the world demanded it, "Twins" gets a sequel

You know, I could have accepted it... but the casting of the third brother is so bad, there is no way this movie could end up being decent.

Adam Sandler » The First Disappointing Adam Sandler Comedy?

I am not sure which one was the first I noticed he wasn't funny. Probably the first one I saw when I wasn't 14.

The most disappointing would be Anger Management, though... Its one thing to throw your acting career down the drain, Sandler, but did you also have to drag the career of one of the greatest actors alive?

General Discussion » What 2011 movies do you regret missing?

The cinema schedule near my house sucks, so I have missed out on a lot of stuff. Drive, The Artist and Attack the Block to name a few.

I usually have to wait for the DVD to get up to date with 2011...

Off-Topic » How much better would Assassin's Creed be if it was a bit harder?

I think AC 2 was the right kind of difficult (maybe a tad easy). The problem with the next one is that they keep giving you more and more tools, without giving the enemies something to counter them.

Brotherhood wasn't difficult at all, since the invincible ninja assassins, the arrows rain and the crossbow made any challenge they might throw at you irrelevant. The only missions that could be considered difficult (and not in a fair way, but a frustrating way) were the Leonardo's weapons, and even those are not that hard when you consider the crossbow is a one hit, undetectable kill with more ammo than enemies in the entire map.

John Carter » So, Not Having Read the Books Means They Shouldn't Be Films?

I don't think the issue is with having adapted an unknown book to movie, but turning it into a high profile movie as if the name of the book was a big licence (which is not). I think the main issue was with the movie costing like 300,000,000 dollars, which, unless there is a lot of marketing involved, it will never recoup.

Also, the marketing on this movie has not been strong so far. Most of the images in the trailer makes it look like a cheap mix between Avatar and Attack of the Clones. I know the original work predates and even inspires some of those movies, but you can't expect people to do research on that when nothing in the trailer (the one thing that should grab their attention) gives them no clue of being adapted from a Burroughs' character, who Burroughs is (at least references to his far more known character: Tarzan) and even going so far as distancing themselves from the original by changing the title to something far less descriptive and more generic.

The comparison to Lord of the Rings is a little ridiculous. I am one of the nerds that didn't read the books before I say the first movie, but even I heard the title before and had some idea what it was about. The marketing never hided the source material... Those movies had J.R.R. Tolkien name all over it, even when his novels are almost public domain by now.

Quests » New Quest Set: "To Hell and Back"

@CrimsonAvenger: The easiest way it to get to the Possession page, check the movies with possessed women (there is a ton of them) and check on said actresses.

Here are some examples: One is the seminal movie of the genre. Another one has the character name on the title. The last one played a Babylonian god/goddess turned giant mascot.

I finished # 35.
I had a hard time figuring out the Lousy Squatters Babylonian one because I didn't recognize it from the film. I more knew it from Futurama as the thing that Professor Farnsworth kept yelling out the window of the Planet Express Ship as he drove slowly with his turn indicator on.
That probably isn't much of a hint unless you remember the Futurama episode where the crew regresses in age.

I remembered it. Great hint. Thanks...

General Discussion » What is the single worst movie you have ever seen?

The "... Movie" series is pretty stupid. The one about vampires (satire of Twilight) is the last and possibly the worst.

I don't usually go to the theater to see those movies (I would eventually see them on cable). The worst movie that I saw on a theaters was Transformers 2.

General Discussion » What was your Star Wars?

It seems I am newer to it that most people here, but I would say Independence Day was my Star Wars.

I now know that it wasn't very good, but being young and naive goes a long way to forgive the rough edges...
