@VioletEyedDragon: Yep, I can't remember where I read it, but Garland purposefully made Dredd to be a kind of day-in-the-life of the character in order to introduce audiences to him and give them a sense of the world. Film 2 would detail the creation of the Mega Cities and the origin of the Judges (if I recall). And then Film 3 would go crazy and bring in the Dark Judges ...
