Quests » New Quest Set: "Not My Day Job"

#16 to finish. There were a few that I thought would be there, but weren't.

@Gort: Oh, him. Damn, I hadn't come across him in my Babylonian mythology research.

Quests » What counts as Cut and Cropped?

@Walker_after_dark: A "content object" is any piece of content. It's extremely broad. "Objects" or "things" within the context of the wiki are something different. Each object page is a content object, but a concept or a movie or even an individual release is also a content object. It can be confusing when the term is used with that meaning, but the engineers will occasionally do so anyway.

And yet, knowing that still doesn't make it any easier to understand how this quest actually works.

Editing & Tools » What to do when naming characters

What name is the character referred to or credited as in the film? Use that if possible. IMDB contributors will sometimes make up names for characters.

Quests » New Quest Set: UnCaged

Oh, and when I completed the last quest from this set, both notifications said "Set Complete". The one for the individual quest should have said it "Quest Complete". I'm don't recall what the other notifications said when I completed individual quests from the set. It hadn't occurred to me to check.

" (This one makes the least amount of sense; it's empty, and is listed as a female. I don't know about you, but I've never met a woman named John) "
People pages were initially brought in by some automated process that guessed people's genders, presumably based on their given name. It got many correct, but many were also incorrect. John was incorrectly assumed to be a female name, so it's caused quite a mess. I've had to fix people's genders a number of times.

I came into this thread expecting to be disappointed, but this looks all right. I'm glad it's not a 3D abomination.

The way I figure it, if it's on Netflix then it's definitely on Netflix. :D
I assume you meant something else?

" Moby Dick - please change to - 2010: Moby Dick
Although both IMDB and Freebase have it listed as Moby Dick (2010), as you can see from the production company's website, It's a re-imagined tale with 2010 in the actual title. Danke! "
What kind of monster would put the year in the title, I asked myself. Then I clicked the link and learned that it's a movie by The Asylum. That explains it!

Bug Reporting » The add a new movie button

@ethan: Your Freshman Orientation quest status suggests otherwise. Yeah, I checked. That's how you can tell which staff members read the rules and which staff didn't. ;)

Seriously though, it may be a good idea to read those and make sure they're up to date. On Giant Bomb's help page, I particularly enjoy the old tour video and the comment about the API.

Is there a Giant Bomb API available?

It's in the works. We plan to provide free access to a large portion of our database for non-commercial projects.

@organicalistic_: Aliases exist to aid searches, but ♥ is not a searchable character. Searching for "I ♥ Huckabees" would be just like searching for "I Huckabees".

Bug Reporting » The add a new movie button

@ethan: It used to be the page that people went to when they clicked the Help link at the top of every page. It's pretty high-visibility. I'm actually surprised there are so many people who haven't read it.

Off-Topic » A Site that uses giantbomb.com as a source a :)

I'm surprised the site looks so good for something that's obviously not the least bit legit. In addition to the obvious game piracy issues, it's not clear that the description is actually from Giant Bomb. There's no explanation of what Playr is, and the only copyright notice that exists on the site says "© 2009. Play your favourite retro games online!" And this looks pretty shady too:
