I saw this last night and was glad that I went in not knowing too much. It was really great.SPOILER WARNING: Click here to reveal hidden content.Evil Dead + Portal + a sprinkling of Lovecraft

Making content seems risky and expensive. It seems like unless they make shows that get people to sign up they'll just be spending money that could be used to add much more third party content. I don't see that happening for Terra Nova or The River.

@Turbo_Toaster said:It's supposed to be dumb. Watch the Three Stooges and you'll understand that this movie is, for better or worse, really accurate.I agree 100%. I've never understood why anyone had fondness for The Stooges.

That show was terrible."If you're stuck in the middle of nowhere with no one around and no means of help you should always take a bunch of dumb risks"

louiedog commented on Alex's staff review John Carter.
I was just looking at the listings for the big multiplex in town and see that John Carter is only on one screen, which is 3D, with the exception of a single 2D showing that took place in the early afternoon. That's extremely unusual for that theater. Movies like this would normally be on at least two screens opening weekend. The Lorax still has two screens. It could just be ...

John Carter looks exactly as good/bad to me as Transformers or Battleship. Transformers made a bajillion dollars and I've seen quite a few comments from people who are excited about Battleship. What's the difference, people didn't play with John Carter figures and Martian playsets when they were kids?

Waaaaaaaaaaay back in the 1990s when people rented VHS tapes and didn't have access to movie information on their phones I picked this up at the rental store on a whim. It had a big impact on me. I watched it twice before returning it. I could not believe what I was seeing. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and find a copy.

I get the sense that this won't be going very wide release.

Even when they underperform don't these Mobius do pretty well overseas? It has a chance.

louiedog commented on Rorie's video Trailer: Piranha 3DD.
Some of the gleeful predictions of doom for this make me sad. Why do people want to see something fail so badly? I'm not talking about anything I see here, but I've read blog posts and comments elsewhere by people who can't wait to see how low the numbers are after release.Still, it doesn't look that good to me and I have no intention of seeing it unless the reviews ...

It was a good show for awhile. I eventually couldn't handle the same formula every week and the eventual lack of interesting side characters.

the moon  Actually, the bad guy character from Avatar. Cocky muscled up fighter vs patient, calculating Neeson. Hell, you could even call it The Grey 2.

And now I need to see this movie. Another great week of Cage.  I can't wait for next week. I recently saw Peggy Sue Got Married for the first time and once again I really want to know how Nic Cage makes his acting choices. I wonder if we can convince Alex to do the voice on next week's podcast...

This movie is going to be great. I can't wait for Milla Jovovich to kick a zombie AIBO in the face.

People can be dicks on their birthday, so if you're surrounded by dicks, maybe it's everyone's birthday! (Or just yours).
