Majkiboy (Level 11)

Actually, this is the first movie ever I walked out on. I left the theater after about 30 minutes. Yes, it was pretty, but that was everything. It was so painfully "artsy" filled with crap about life and all of its clichés. I also felt uneasy about the strong suggestive religious ideas they were forcing on me.

Anyway, I had enough of baby feet, slow shots of kids, and 10 minutes of space nebulas and similar things on our planet. "OOOH I SEE WHAT YOU MADE ME REALISE. WE ARE AAALLL SO SMAAAL IN THIS WORLLD! Oh you writer, you so clever -_-"

Anyway, me and my friend were not the only ones who left, there were like 10 others leaving. So for whatever reason you had, you weren't alone.

And that seems much more appealing. Maybe it is because of the comic-book medium... It's ok to do whatever in comics.. but when transfered in to movies... I don't know...

I don't read comics, but I really like Iron man and I like some of the X-Men movies. Hmm and come to think of it, also the batman movies and probably some other comic stuff I can't remember now. I am not trying to mock comics, because some of them are actually cool! And I can't talk for the comics I haven't read!

I went to see this move with NO expectations at all, I had not even seen the design or any trailers! Not even a box-shot! Only heard of it through podcasts and Conan o' Brien.
I like to see movies this way, I don't want any spoilers and stuff.



That is a longer version of why I didn't really like this movie. And it is  IMHO!
So I humbly ask you, what is the appeal?

(I had no idea that the movie premiered later in US, I hope I'm not spoiling anything...)

Just saw this movie and I really didn't enjoy it at all. I don't know why people do, maybe it is because the big fan base of the comic book in USA?

For me, living in a nordic country, this is simply ridiculous and a mockery of our ancestors and their beliefs. It is laughable, not cool. The mighty Thor and his fellow gods are made out to be some dorks in shiny armor.. amongst other things... well well.

SO, to my question, are there any non-amercians liking this movie?
If so, why?
Am I missing something here?

I got some friends telling me that I need to watch it since I love sci fi. So... would love to hear some stuff about Battlestar Galactica! Either sell it, or trash it!

I have a problem. 
 
I am no movie-guru, but I really love movies. So I have set out a goal for myself.
I am going to watch every classic/cult or mention worthy movie there is. If for nothing else, just to be able to start random conversations :D  
BUT, I feel somewhat clueless what to watch next.
 
So I ask you thee, community of Screened. What classics do I have to watch this fall? What essentials are there? Any special directors, writers?
Movies like Memento and Pulp Fiction can be checked of though. You can see my "Seen this summer"-list to see what I've been watching recently and maybe kick me in the right direction :).
