General Discussion » Blood into Wine for one week only in new orleans.

I saw the trailer for this last night and it looks very interesting. Here in NorCal, thanks to Napa and the "Wine Country," we all think of wine making as a snobby endeavor for those of an elitist mindset. Looks like Maynard is hoping to smash that stereotype and maybe infuse a more rock star atmosphere into the practice. Can't argue with that, no siree.

Off-Topic » What Mobile Phone Do You Use?

Palm Curve something-something (don't remember the model number). It's OK, but the OS crashes sometimes and goes all white screen.

General Discussion » Who is your least favorite actor ?

@ComicCrazy: Good call on Cruise, I'm probably going to pick him since I haven't liked anything he's done since Top Gun and even then not really because of him. Perhaps I should say that I don't like any of the loony actors associated with Scientology. Travolta, Kirsty Ally, Jenna Elfman--they're all terribly annoying.

General Discussion » What is your guilty pleasure movie?

I still love The Goonies to the extent that I will never walk away from the TV if I'm flipping through channels and it's playing. Should I be guilty about this? (Maybe it's not that guilty of a pleasure then.)

General Discussion » Which is the worst situation to be in?

Call me selfish, but masked man. The zombie thing might be solved without me ever getting involved (I don't put much stock in the Hollywood version of a rapid zombie epidemic spread) but the masked man has to be dealt with right then and there by me and possibly friends and loved ones.

It also helps that I have had a shotgun pulled on me at night in a snowy forest. He wasn't wearing a mask though.

General Discussion » Where is Lebron going?

Just like how they lavished so much attention on Kobe after the finals game (as if he carried the entire team) this focus on where LeBron James will go has turned me off to basketball. It's supposed to be a TEAM sport, not LeBron-ball.

Can't wait for U.S. edition of Top Gear to kick off. Sure, it probably won't be nearly as funny, but it's neat to see a homegrown iteration.

General Discussion » Stanley Kubricks best movie?

2001 is my second-favorite sci-fi film (behind Blade Runner), but Dr. Strangelove is my favorite. It's just so watchable over and over and over. Funny every time.

General Discussion » German Movie Recommendations.

I feel terrible for saying this, but the only high-profile German films I've watched are Das Boot, Metropolis and Run Lola Run. I'm greatly looking forward to the community educating me here. Please, carry on!

Unsimulated Sex » Does it make a film better? or worse....

@Mistress_Redhead: I'm afraid I don't understand what you're getting at. Showing off that one can direct sex really happening, doesn't that mean they're trying out to be a porn director?

Voldemort » Why I am Looking Forward to Deathly Hallows

@RottenVixen: What's the point of being immortal if ya can't get anything but the snake fetish ladies to go out with? Voldemort is a poor decision maker.

The Chosen One » This is easily my most hated of cliches.

When The Last Airbender finished I commented to Alex that the movie could really have been helped by Eddie Murphy showing up with the Ajanti Dagger and plunging it through Aang's chest. I too am so done with Chosen One plots.

I'm thinking this is the role he was born to play. That being said, it may be the last role he'll ever be good in.

Hey, there's no fighting allowed in the war room, ladies. But really, we're all dancing around the real issue here: what the fuck happened to Voldemort's nose?

Unsimulated Sex » Does it make a film better? or worse....

It all depends on presentation, I suppose. For example, I've heard critics say the simulated, brutal sex scenes in The Killer Inside Me make the movie worse. Whether or not one can see the actual penetration is secondary to what the context of the whole thing really is.

Off-Topic » How do you stay healthy?

@ashriels: Hey, if you knew the drag queens that I do you'd be surprised at just who can pass as a woman.
With the bike, yes, it is an investment, especially if you're making it a primary form of transportation. $1-2k for a starter road bike is probably the best bet. You don't want something so cheap it falls apart quickly, but nothing so expensive that you financially cripple yourself or don't have funds for the next step up when that day comes.
What are the bike laws in your area like? Are you able to ride in traffic and share the lanes without much fear of being run over?
