I just watched it, and found the campy pacing and dialogue endearing. It certainly isn't high cinema, but it doesn't claim to be, and honestly and earnestly hold its place as a thoroughly enjoyable romp. If you've any history or attachment to the slightly stilted and melodramatic storycraft of the '30s through the mid '60s, as I certainly do, I think you'll enjoy it for what it is.

I really like the look of it. The actors look like everyday folks, and locations and times seem a bit more realistic than the "foggy forest in the middle of the night."But definitely some LOST overtones. OK, so I'm apprehensively optimistic.

I find it odd that a director would specifically choose to make an "all-black" film. It strikes me a bit like "Black History Month." Separate but equal.
