I feel like the loss of Nathan worked out pretty well. If this is the way they want to run the show, with a constantly shifting carousel of new characters, I'm game. It's different, but it's held up well so far. And frankly, Simon/Alisha was getting a bit too dire and serious.

Serious question: Does the movie (or book, or whatever) ever even try to explain how a man is still alive on a planet with minimal atmosphere and a surface temperature of -66 Celsius? Or am I going to hate the shit out of this movie before it even starts?

@JCgamer: Brand continuity is more important than sticking to the books. The only reason the series isn't called "A Song of Ice and Fire" is because that name probably would have killed the whole damn show.

The first episode felt ridiculously rushed to me. I have to think that the characters wouldn't seem quite as hollow if they had a bit more time to dig into them. I mean, think about the etching on the rocks: that's a mystery that they introduced and then solved in the span of just that episode. At first it's like, "Where did they come from?" and then at the end ...
