MooSquared (Level 16)

I finally get time to watch the French Open, and all I get to see is Djokovic lose. Harsh.

The past two episodes of Jeopardy! have been extremely interesting. I haven't seen the show in ages, but finding out that IBM created another supercomputer specifically for the game made me tune in. What makes Watson seem astounding is that is can figure out the puns and quirky language usage that is associated with Jeopardy-type questions. My favorite portions were when Watson would get something wrong or not answer. Not because I harbor hate against the machine, but for the fact it makes the machine seem more human. For me, it gives off the feeling that the computer is actually "thinking" like us to formulate an answer. Seeing Watson answer wrong makes me wish I had studied computer science instead so I could understand the algorithms used as its programming.

Besides being interested at a technical standpoint, I liked how Watson seemed to have a personality. In today's episode, it wagered $6245 or something close for a Double Jeopardy question. Why such a specific number, who knows? It could be totally random, but I'd like to think for some reason it liked that amount. Another quirk was when Watson answered the Final Jeopardy question with multiple question marks at the end since it wasn't sure. It's almost as if it's saying, "Well....I don't know, maybe???"

This cat is terrifying. I was immediately reminded of the Weeping Angels in Doctor Who. Its large eyes staring you down add another level of creepiness.

Girl can actually sing. I find her voice pleasant here! Why does she sound so much worse on the recorded versions of her songs? I think her songs being so over produced may be attributing to the problem. She also has a version of Electric Feel which I like a lot. Really, this is all just boggling my mind.

I started watching more British shows recently. Some of been amazing, others not so much. Here are some of the shows I've seen:

Sherlock
This show has now become one of my absolute favorite dramas that I've seen in recent memory. The relationship and chemistry between Watson and Holmes is perfect. It really felt like they were friends. Sherlock listens to John's opinions and doesn't treat him like a complete doormat. The modernization of Sherlock Holmes was also very thought out. The only downside was episode two, The Blind Banker. The plot was very stereotypical with shifty Asians, triads, and smuggled goods. While watching, I couldn't stop going, "Really?" throughout the episode.

Merlin
This show...I don't even know. I've just seen the first two seasons, and it's very mediocre. The story is about Merlin and Arthur growing up, and how they start becoming the legends in folklore. In the beginning, the show was was a bit campy but still fun to watch. It was nice to see Merlin and Arthur's budding friendship and trust in one another. Since the show follows the legend of King Arthur, they started to foreshadow events to come. Unfortunately whoever writes this show does it in such an abrupt and shoddy manner. Through season two, I just kept getting more and more annoyed by most of the characters especially Morgana. Her plight was understandable, but I could not care less about it.

Doctor Who (Season 5)
This is the only season of Who I've ever seen. I found most of it a little underwhelming. I think all the hype I've heard about the show made me expect more. It's a perfectly adequate sci-fi series. There are a few amazing episodes sprinkled throughout. I loved the episode with the Weeping Angels. It was truly frightening. I was a bit surprised since I thought Doctor Who was a family oriented show. If I was a kid watching, I'd probably have nightmares for days. The first and last episodes were also great. I love little Amelia Pond and wished they showed more of her.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks
I don't know at least sixty percent of the guests, but I still find this show hilarious. I wish Simon Amstell was still hosting, but the guest hosts have been pretty good. I found out that Josh Groban is actually a funny guy from watching Buzzcocks.
