Die Hard, one of the greatest action movies made. It spawned an aging Bruce Willis into movie stardom and introduced us to the greatness that is Alan Rickman. Over (so far) 4 movies officer John McClane is forced to battle foes beyond him and save some family memeber caught up in it all.
The franchise also spawned the popular refrain "It's Die Hard in a *blank*" as a way to describe the latest action movie. They also gave us
