The Walking Dead » I hate about 95% of the characters in this show.

While I agree a good portion of the characters are deplorable and act on insipid levels, I still enjoy the show and a fair amount of people do as well. The fact we have emotions and opinions about these characters actually isn't a bad thing for the show. Yes it could be better in many areas but overall, its good and I can't wait 'til next season begins.

Arrow » Here is your first look at the new Green Arrow.

While the costume looks great, if the show ends up with similar content to Smallville, then I won't be too interested. This might be a hard sell but I am curious about it. Wait and see I guess.

I collect lint from dryers and knit them into sweaters for the wee folk running around my apartment.

No, I dabble a little in doing a bit of comic, fantasy and pin-up style art in various mediums.

Off-Topic » Pinto or Black Beans?

I choose black pinto beans.

Cause that's the way I roll. Hombre.

Actually black beans, they seem to be more flavorful to me.

TV » This intro to the X-Men anime is pretty cool

@Rorie: Have to say I like the looks of it. It is beautifully done if nothing else. Don't know about the content but having different takes on properties isn't always a bad thing if done well. Anime is hit and miss a lot of times but at least the intro looks good. Thanks for sharing it.

@Count_Zero: A bit delayed on my part by commenting just now but I have to admit I didn't realize Harlan Ellison, one of my favorite Sci-Fi writers, has been involved with so much contentious behavior on his part.

You did a great job of explaining what he's done, citing resources as well, and ( a bit sadly for Ellison) pointed out that he's been, as you put it, a jerk.

Being a successful person, regardless of genre or field, does not entitle one to be inappropriate, and it sounds like he's been that way. I've always known he's been outspoken but perhaps accounts of his statements and opinions have been tailored to make it look like he's just been a cantankerous guy. There is a distinction between being opinionated and being an ass, and this lawsuit and other incidents are making me think he's been more of the latter.

No one is perfect. Still, it doesn't hurt to act professional and to be a decent man. Maybe I am being judgmental and I will always enjoy a number of his stories and even accounts involving Ellison but I agree, he needs to tone it down because he won't leave this life with a good impression on many people.

Nice job on the video, I really enjoyed the discussion you provided, well thought out, written and taped.

Star Trek Into Darkness » Exciting casting news for Star Trek fans!

@Mistress_Redhead: This is rather interesting. I rather like the actor, and while some may not have liked The Wolfman I enjoyed it. Although he's been in some weird roles that just didn't seem right for him I think if he shows up as any type of villain, whether it is Khan or anyone else, it will be good. Cool news.

General Discussion » Most irritating movie clichés!

@not_a_bumblebee: Regarding hunting vampires at night, the one movie that actually did exactly what you are talking about, hunting and destroying vampires in the daytime is the movie "Vampires" by John Carpenter starring my man James Woods.

More of the cliche' list:

When a character shooting a pistol runs out bullets, he throws the gun away or at his adversary.

The hero can outrun bullets, even when fired from an automatic weapon or machine gun. He can also manage to duck just in the nick of time to avoid bullets.

It is a cliche' here on screened, but every character is able to instantly hack into a computer by finding a password they miraculously pull out of their ass.

Every character that appears in a movie and is supposed to be foreign or from a country other than the USA, speaks with a distinct British accent.

Cute pet suddenly becomes ferocious and attacks poor sap.

So many more....

Jim Carrey » Holy shit.

This is what I get for checking the link via Twitter/Screened Pups.

It is mesmerizing. If this doesn't induce seizures I will be surprised.

The Love Guru » Am I the only one who liked this movie?

The Love Guru had its moments. Anything Meyers does after Austin Powers is going to be judged in comparison. I think they tried too hard in a way, and relied on some cliche stuff. However,it was a LOT better than "So I Married An Axe Murderer"..

Quests » You're Dead to Me Quest

A few omissions that I would have liked to have been included but alas, was not the case. Yeah, the series of "movies" where people meet their demise, truly enough reason for this Quest and to be included as the answers. Steaming pile of dung. < I mean a certain series of movies. This Quest wasn't bad I need to clarify, just wish there were some movies, characters, and the like that were added but overall a good fun Quest. I had to resort to using this Forum for some help, and I appreciate the hints here.

General Discussion » Rate the last film you watched.

Captain America: The First Avenger. 5/5. Yes primarily because I like the character but I also feel the movie was done absolutely right on all levels concerning the portrayal of Captain America, but the whole feel of the movie was spot on, not to mention the action. Directed by the same guy who directed The Rocketeer, another personal fave, so I was happy with this on all fronts. Well done, and recommended even if you've no idea who or what the character is or maybe burned on super hero movies, this one fits the bill as a good action movie which appeals to a lot of people. The audience laughed and got excited in the theater, haven't seen that happen in awhile!

General Discussion » How Much Do Movie Tickets Cost Where You Live?

Here in the middle of the cornholio State of Nebraska in the capital of Lincoln, ticket prices vary between $6,50- $7.50 for anything shown prior to 5:00PM, and $8.50-$9.50 for evening showings. These prices are reflective of different theaters, by the way. I honestly haven't checked the 3D movies nor their prices but I venture they're $2.00 and up more costly than the 2D films. The prices actually jumped ( again ) by .50 cents compared to a few months ago, all around town.

During the summer time, it seems the Matinee prices aren't in effect but when Autumn hits, then they return. Also, there is one discounted movie theater in the city which shows movies ( only 1 or 2 at a time ) that have been out for awhile. Wish there were more of these around.

@arrested_developer: Do you mean as an answer? Wish I knew, I doubt there would be much love in terms of any Quests for James Cagney here because his movies are "old". I hope someone on Screened just read my comment, because some love for Cagney in some form or another would be frikkin' awesome in my book.
