Before yesterday, I was one of the few people who had never seen a single thing Star Wars related. Not any of the movies, not the tv shows, not the christmas specials, nothing.

I decided it was about time to change that, and yesterday I borrowed the blu-ray copy from a friend and watched Episode IV: A New Hope for the first time.

Watching a Star Wars movie for the first in 2012 is really weird. I already know most of the famous lines from all the different places they are referenced. I already know the names of most of the characters. I already know the story beats. And yet, A New Hope was a pleasant experience!

I didn't go into this movie with high expectations, I was actually expecting to dislike it. However, by the end I thought that this was a film I should have seen a long time ago. I didn't love it, but I liked it much more than I expected I would.

Some of the lines felt a bit cheesy because of how many times I've heard them elsewhere, but I guess thats not the films fault. Overall I enjoyed the script and was surprised by how funny some of the lines were. (boring conversation anyways)

The CGI alterations that Lucas decided to add to the blu-ray edition were quite jarring, but didn't affect my overall experience of the film. Honestly I thought that the Star Wars fans make too big of a deal of them, although if I had seen the originals first then maybe my opinion would be different.

So all in all, a really good movie, even for a first-time viewer in 2012. I'll probably watch Empire Strikes Back pretty soon. Should I just stop after Return of the Jedi or are the prequels worth a watch? Also, should I watch the original theatrical versions of the rest or is the blu-ray just fine?

Started working on this before Kung Fu Panda 2 and Cars 2 were released (Panda 2 may have just been released) and then just forgot about it until yesterday. So that's the reason those two movies aren't featured in here. Experimented with a ton of different color pallets and ended up with this one. Found a similar color pallet on the interwebs which I tweaked a bunch until I thought I'd found something that was relatively easy on the eyes.

Hopefully the graphic speaks for itself, if not, then I have failed. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :)

As always, I appreciate all the feedback you guys give! :)

Had heard so much good about The Wire that I started watching it this week. Often regarded as the best show ever, so I wanted to see what it was all about.

I'm at episode 7 right now and really enjoying it. I felt it started really slow, but it started to pick up at around episode 4 or so. Every episode seems better than the previous one. Currently I'm personally not understanding the "best show ever" statements, but I'll watch the whole first season before coming with a final verdict. I've heard the pay-off at the end is fantastic, so I'm looking forward to whatever it is.

D'Angelo is my favorite character so far. Really enjoy every scene he is in. All of the characters are great actually. McNulty, Greggs, Bubbles, Stringer etc. They all have a great chemistry between them. I usually don't like shows that have a ton of characters in them, cause I get confused with the names and most of them don't get enough screentime, but I think The Wire has handled its ensemble cast quite nicely so far.

To those who have seen the whole series, which season is your favorite? For those who didn't like it so much, when did you stop watching it?

I feel like I'm the only one who didn't love this movie. I was shocked when I checked out it's Tomatometer rating and found out that it's on 91%. I was excited going in to see this movie, especially after Rorie's 5 star review, but I came out a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it was an alright film, but I couldn't understand the amount of praise it was getting.

Let me start off by saying that Gyllenhaal's acting was phenomenal and he truly carried this film. But the others, not so much. The actor who played the bomber was really mediocre. His whole incentive for the bombings was really stupid and lazy in my opinion. And it didn't feel satisfying enough for me when he was caught for me. It was like it was all too easy. Also the Dr. Rutledge character looked like a walking cliché with his unconvincing limp.

The romance felt unnecessary to me. It seems like it's trying to attract to the female crowd but the sci-fi part suffers because of it. It just felt kinda forced to me.

One of the biggest problems I had with the film was the idea of Source Code itself. Now, I'm not the kinda guy that questions things too much in sci-fi movies. How are they able to enter dreams within dreams within dreams in Inception? They didn't try to explain it and therefore people didn't care. But in Source Code, they try and explain in great length and the film suffers from it in my opinion.

I don't see many people talking about it, but the soundtrack was shit. It was extremely loud when it didn't need to be and I was constantly annoyed by it. It really saddened me to hear that Clint Mansell wasn't able to score this, because his work on Moon was terrific!

And then the thing that most people are complaining about, the ending. It went on for far too long. They had an absolute perfect time to end it, but instead they decided to carry the film on for like 10-15 minutes more. While the ending isn't bad by any means, they really missed a great opportunity for a memorable ending. A similar thing happened in Moon with the voices that were heard in the last minute to add some kind of closure. It was unnecessary. I really hope Duncan Jones doesn't miss another great ending in his next film.

So, what do you guys think? Am I an idiot?

Sorry, no Screened Movie poster this time. Been seeing a lot of The Dark Knight Rises fan-made posters lately, so I wanted to take a stab at it as well. I kept trying to fit Bale or Catwoman in there somehow, but it always felt crammed. I'm not completely satisfied with it yet, cause right now it doesn't look that much like it has anything to do with TDKR, just another Batman poster. Wanted to go with a sorta minimalist approach, like Olly Moss. Anyways, let me know what you think of it! :D
