Nerdmotron (Level 25)

If I was in a horror film i'd be the nerd character who almost makes it to the end but then gets a hook to the face.

So last night I get a text from a buddy informing me he will be watching WWE's Summerslam pay pre-view. As a wrestling fan from back in the day (or the 80's) Summerslam was always an important event (mostly because there were only four pay pre-view's a year not the 12/13 you get now) so I decide to go watch it with him. I haven't really been following the WWE product as of late so I had no idea who was even wrestling and when I found out I was less then excited but I still watched.
And I was...pretty entertained. The curtain jerk was Intercontinental champion Dolph Ziggler defending his title against Kofi Kingston. They had an OK match, can't say I'm big fan of either guy, although Dolph's lucky to have Vicky Guerrero in his corner. She is a huge heat magnet and all she has to say to get the whole arena booing her is "EXCUSE ME".
Next was Melina vs. Alicia Fox. Bad match. Not much more to say, Fox can't work and Melina as attractive as she is needs to work somebody good so she can be passable. LayCool come down for some shenanigans which was pretty point less.
Big Show takes on the entire Straight Edge Society in a handicap match. Not bad but ultimately kind disappointing because Big Show won (he didn't pin Punk so the feud can continue), I just think if he had lost, the feud would have more interest.
MIZ cuts an AWESOME (pun intend) promo, which was really good. Never thought the MIZ would become anything but a mid-carder, however he is going to be a star.
Randy Orton fought Sheamus for the WWE Championship, OK match but the ending was displeasing. I know they need to keep the feud going but something less boring would have been nice.
Kane who's the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION (which I still can't believe) had a decent match with Rey Mysterio. I wasn't surprised Kane won but now he'll be fighting the Undertaker (who made his return at the end of the match) and I've seen that match before.
Team WWE against Nexus. Now I really didn't think match would be to good. When you have fourteen guys in a match (yes FOURTEEN) you're probably not going to see the greatest match in the world. To many cooks kind of situation. However, this match wasn't half bad, mainly due to the fact that something happened which does not happen very often. WWE managed to surprise me. The Miz was asked to be the last member of team WWE, during his earlier promo he said he would but that was to little to late. As the Miz makes his way to the ring, John Cena said they found a better guy for the job...DANIEL BRYAN!!! I marked out big time. I was a big fan of Bryan Danielson (his real name) on the independent scene and when he came to WWE I really hoped he'd do well. And he did, he was part of a good story line that I really enjoyed. Unfortunately he was released due to something he did during an angle and it looked liked he might be gone from the company for good. But it might have been a big work because here he was and started kicking ass. The first Nexus chump that got in the ring he kicked around and then tapped him out with a cool submission. He also got another submission towards the end of the match before being taken out by the Miz (what a cad!). John Cena won the match but the idea of a Miz/Bryan feud is exciting.
Overall a pretty good event. The surprise appearance of Daniel Bryan was really cool and has me interested in watching WWE programming, hopefully they can keep me interesed.
