DVD Collection!

Here are the movies that I own. Hopefully I won't buy too many not amazing movies (I still regret Kick Ass and Leaves of Grass)

1. 12 Angry Men

150th DVD. Amazing film, with an amazing script, executed amazingly. Obviously, I hate this movie. $7.99 at Costco.

2. 28 Days Later...

$9.00 for a pack containing both this and 28 Weeks Later. I couldn't recall LOVING Weeks Later (wherein I LOVE 28 Days Later- beautiful damn film, all around, in my opinion), but 2 for $9.00? Worth it.

3. 28 Weeks Later

Look above. DO AS POSTER DOES.(After a recent re-watch, I've determined that 28 Weeks Later is a much more fun and exciting film. Helicopters.)

4. The 40 Year Old Virgin

15 bucks on Blu Ray at Target. Got an Apatow bug last night- went intending Knocked Up, but this worked fine too. Still a hilarious film! The hint of heart Judd likes to work with is strong here, making it a favorite go-to light-hearted watch.

5. (500) Days of Summer

Blockbuster 4 for $20 for this clever indie romance. Gotta love Marc Webb's style, translating a very well written script for the screen, and no one can deny the charm of Joseph Gordon Levitt or Zooey Deschanel. Though, sometimes, the... attitude of the film kind of pisses me off. Maybe it's because I'm lonely! *crickets*

6. 127 Hours

3/1/11- $22 at Target on Blu-ray. Absolutely fantastic movie that enraptures me every damn time. James Franco is phenomenal in his role, and Boyle manages to make what seems horrific and possibly quite dull an exciting, albeit serious and emotional journey without really compromising the true nature of the situation. Looks damn beautiful on Blu-Ray, My God.

7. About Schmidt

5 bucks at Barnes and Nobel. My first venture into the works of Alexander Payne. An overall enjoyable dramedy that I liked quite a lot, though maybe would've loved even more if I wasn't in a car. I'd say as one emotional build-up, the film has an ending that quite literally broke me, my heart, and tear ducts. Also, Nicholson!

8. Adaptation

$15.00 at Barnes And Noble. Love this movie, and for that price? Very much, yes. Spike Jonze, Charlie Kaufman, AND Nicolas Cage always have my heart- ALWAYS.

9. Adventureland

$10 at Blockbuster on Blu-ray. A great dramedy from Greg Mottola. While people didn't like this as much as Superbad, I'm really sad that this was compared to that Apatow production. On its own, it's a truly excellent movie that made me laugh and cry in equal measure.

10. Almost Famous

Like... $10.00 at Target. Good price for a good film! If I didn't want to be a filmmaker, I'd want to be a journalist. But deep in my core, no matter what I become, I'm a fan of the craft. As well, I'm a fan of music! So this film really hit me hard.

11. American Beauty

I think I bought this at Best Buy with Grandma's Boy. What a great combination! I've always been aware of Kevin Spacey's power as an actor, but always at a distance, with no real proof. This was my first REAL taste of the man's strength. My head exploded, and it was beautiful. Do you SEE what I did there?

12. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

my 100th DVD... No explanation required.

13. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

Part of a $10 package. Never hurts to have lots of comedy in the collection, and I actually like Mike Meyer's stuff. Especially Austin Powers.

14. Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

Part of a $10 package. I remember liking this one too!

15. Austin Powers in Goldmember

Part of a $10 package. Sure, why not!

16. Back to the Future

Part of Trilogy which I bought out of my own joyous, money spending glee! $35, I believe. A great classic I could pop in and enjoy any time, anywhere... someone challenge me on this, I'd like to see where I'd be forced to watch Back to the Future.

17. Back to the Future Part II

Part of Trilogy which I bought out of my own joyous, money spending glee! $35, I believe. I really like this sequel. Mainly because it's kinda stupid to myself and my generation, but it's honestly quite a lot of fun. How Biff is handled in this film, in ALL his ages, is just the best. As a kid, this was definitely my favorite. I STILL WANT A HOVERBOARD.

18. Back to the Future Part III

Part of Trilogy which I bought out of my own joyous, money spending glee! $35, I believe. Great ending to a great trilogy. Tons of fun had here. I think it would've been hilarious if the film ended after Cowboy Biff (forgot the name, sorry) "killed" Marty, and slowly walked amongst the crowd, playing for applause. Fade to black, implying Marty actually died, and you've got a hit... but then you wouldn't get Flea... scratch all I said, go watch this movie.

19. Bad Boys II

My uncle wasn't watching it, so I took it. Makes sense, right? Anyway, this movie is fucking insane, and I'm pretty sure the copy I have is bootleg and from the Philippines. BEST PACKAGE I'LL EVER HAVE.

20. Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

5 for $20 deal at Blockbuster. This movie is bat-shit insane. Sold. This is a fun one to lend out to friends. And strangers?

21. Bad Santa

DVD from Blockbuster. Got it on Black Friday! My personal favorite Christmas movie, being a dark comedy lover. Just a lusciously fucked up treat of a film.

22. Batman Begins

5 bucks on blu ray at target. Not a bad price for a fairly great film, but only a precursor to an even greater one.

23. Balls of Fury

5 for $20. THIS MOVIE IS FUNNY AS SHIT. Honestly, a great comedy, in my opinion. I think Tom Lennon and Robert Ben Garant should keep writing and making movies. Dan Fogel as well! Funny man.

24. Beastie Boys

Criterion Collection's Beastie Boys Video Anthology! 30 bucks at Barnes and Nobel. It's a bit of a dated DVD, but still nice to have what it has to offer... just hope an updated version comes when that band decides to give, which I hope is never. You can always only have one, huh?

25. Beerfest

I think I got this for $5.00 at the line at Best Buy. I love this movie. I love this movie a lot. I can quote this movie, constantly, and I DO quote it constantly. It's true, Sandy.

26. Be Kind Rewind

Can't remember where I bought it, but I don't regret it, because this is a great film. Goofy, referential, heartfelt, and nostalgic, this Gondry effort is actually my favorite right after Eternal Sunshine. It just strikes a fun, emotional cord with my a little too easily. Also, that ending. I don't care what you say, I cried like a bitch.

27. The Big Lebowski

Bought this at Target for a price that was worth it. Any price. I will buy this movie over and over again. Even for a suitcase full of dirty laundry. The whites.

28. Big Trouble

Rented and then bought from the Blockbuster. Clever hilarity at it's finest. Sonnenfeld did a great job with it, but if this was given to an even better filmmaker? Goodness, this would be an instant classic. But for now, it's just a hilarious little film that I like to reintroduce to many people.

29. Blazing Saddles

My dad bought this, and I'm proud of having it in my collection. Absolutely hilarious film, especially in its climax. It's that kind of goofy, caution-to-the-wind attitude in comedic filmmaking that I admire so much.

30. The Book of Eli

Blu-ray $12 from Best Buy on black friday. I'm one of those guys that really likes this movie. It's a really fun movie, that looks beautiful as hell on Blu-ray.

31. Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

Blockbuster 4 for $20. I... this is just a really good movie. Hilarious stuff- Sacha Baron Cohen is quite a genius.

32. Bottle Rocket

Like... $10.00 at Borders. It's a shame that the Criterion Edition is like $40.00. Oh well. This movie is still great! My favorite Wes Anderson flick after Rushmore.

33. Bridesmaids

20 bucks on blu ray at best buy, for one of the best Apatow productions... Quite possibly ever. A triumph of a comedy with actual story, character, and care, I truly must say. Love this film. Plus, Annie Mumolo who cowrote and costarred in the film, went to my high school!

34. Brick

10 bucks at Barnes and Noble. Inventive, clever, thrilling film. Still don't get it entirely, but I feel like when I do, this will get higher on my favorite films list.

35. The Brothers Bloom

5 for $20. I really liked Brick, so I thought I'd give this a try. Made a good choice- this is a great, stylistic and often heartwarming comedy.

36. Burn After Reading

My friend lent me his copy... didn't want it back. I liked it more than he did, clearly. Classic black comedy, chock-full of smart humor and storytelling.

37. The Brothers Solomon

Retarded Glee. Absolutely brilliant movie. My God. 4 bucks at a Big Lots, baby.

38. Cast Away

$5.00 at Best Buy. What a steal for a great drama!

39. Cedar Rapids

5 bucks at a blockbuster clearance- excellent comedy with much more to it!

40. Clerks.

I can't recall buying this, but I know I got it after Clerks II. I don't know why, but I like Clerks II more, somehow. Regardless, this is a classic, no doubt.

41. Clerks II

Bought from Best Buy. I adore this film. 100%.

42. Charlie Wilson's War

Random buy at Best Buy. Worth it- a pleasant surprise from a great director, great writer, and two amazing lead actors.

43. Chasing Amy

$20 blu-ray I bought out of impulse, rightfully so, because it's Smith's best film!

44. Chicago

John C Reilly is in it, so fine, I'll check it out. I've heard excellent things, so I took this from my uncle. Note, I took it. I like feeling like a delinquent.

45. Children of Men

Can't remember where I bought this, but dammit, why wouldn't I have bought it? Though, I really should get this on blu-ray at some point. Make my mind cream its pants even more.

46. Choke

From Blockbuster. Watched blindly and was thoroughly pleased. Sam Rockwell is a treat. It would've been neat if Seth Rogen got the role of Denny, but hey.

47. City Island

$15.00 at Blockbuster. I've heard amazing things, and I love Andy Garcia, so I gave it a chance. I'll probably review it soon! (This was posted around 10/12/10.)

48. Cloverfield

$10 at Blockbuster on Blu-ray. Fun, exciting, scary, and even funny at points. Great addition to any collection (literally any. Collect stamps? Cloverfield.)

49. Collateral

Can't recall when I got this, but man, this is one hell of a thrill ride (YEAH, I SAID IT.)

50. Coraline

Christmas gift. Thanks, I suppose! It's a pretty good movie.
