People Who Should Be Involved in a Comic Book Movie

Comic Book movies are in, and they've been in for a while now, like to the point where I don't know if it's a fad anymore of if it's now just a new sub-genre that's here to stay. And as a long time comic book fan and a movie geek, it's time for me to do what I do best, ignore my actual work to dream cast my favorite movies. These are people who I think should be involved in a comic book movie, either as an actor, director, or other.

1. Gina Carano

Cast her as Wonder Woman. She's tough, beautiful, and isn't a twig like most actresses. She actually looks like somebody who could come from an island of gladiator amazons. Plus in Haywire she proved that she can act fairly decently, which is more than you can say for most athletes turned actor.

2. Ben Affleck

Yes, we all know he shouldn't have played Daredevil... but he sure as hell should direct the next Daredevil movie. Look at what he did for Boston in The Town, he could totally capture the dark grittiness of Daredevil's home neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen.

3. Djimon Hounsou

Cast him as the Black Panther. A lot of people say he might be too old to play the Black Panther because all comic book movies have to show the origin story, but I would have no problem setting the movie later in his life and telling his origin in flashbacks, because I can't think of anyone better to play the noble king of an African nation.

4. Kiefer Sutherland

Cast him as the Punisher. In 24 Kiefer Sutherland was always an inch away from snapping, and the Punisher is basically that character if he actually did it.

5. Leonard Nimoy

Cast him as the Vision. The Vision is a robotic member of the Avengers who learned through his team how to belong among others unlike himself... remind you of any characters Nimoy played?

6. John Cusack

Cast him as Mr. Fantastic. For the leader of the Fantastic Four, you want someone who can be focused on his work almost entirely, and yet still comes off as very likable. Cusack has played a few roles where I can think of him performing a similar role.

7. Alison Brie

Cast her as The Wasp. Janet Van Dyne is a fun upbeat fashion designer, so you want someone who is very likable and friendly, and can look good while doing almost anything. Alison Brie fits that to me.

8. Bradley Cooper

Cast him as Hal Jordan. Everyone I've talked to has said that Nathan Fillion should be cast as Green Lantern because he looks just like him... and yes he does. But I'll submit to you another choice. Bradley Cooper has the cockyness and confidence I think to play Hal Jordan faithfully. (Also I always said that Ryan Renolds would be perfect to play the Flash, and ironically Bradley Cooper is currently in talks to play the Scarlet Speedster, so close Hollywood).

9. Dwayne Johnson

Cast him as Wonder Man. Wonder Man is a cocky movie star with large amounts of charisma. The mere fact that Dwayne Johnson is still likable after making so many flops sells me on this role.

10. Adrien Brody

Cast him as Doctor Strange. Yes I know that he doesn't look anything like the character, but Doctor Strange is a character who started off greedy and self obsessed, and then learned to open his mind and work for the greater good. So in other words just have Brody go from playing his character in Splice to his character in The Pianist.

11. Terry Crews

Cast him as Luke Cage. Big, loveable, cool, confident, and looks like he can kick your ass. How has Terry Crews not already been signed on to this part?

12. Ralph Fiennes

Cast him as Doctor Doom. I was saying that he should play this part long before he got the role of Voldemort, and I'm kind of ticked that he did get that part because it's rare that such a serious actor plays a villain in two different fan filled franchises.

13. Bill Hader

Cast him as Ant Man. Ant Man is the science nerd of the Avengers, way more than any other member he's the guy who spends the most time in the lab. I can really see Bill being the outcast on the team, the guy everyone else doesn't quite get. And for everyone who says "Yeah but he's just a comedic actor," remember that Edgar Wright is writing and directing the Ant Man movie.

14. Brad Bird

Get him to Direct the Fantastic Four movie. We already saw that he knows how to do great action with live actors in MI4, and we saw that he can get the family super hero vibe in the Incredibles. Combine the two and you got the Fantastic Four.

15. Guillermo del Toro

Get him to Direct Doctor Strange. This guy knows weird mind blowing magic. I would love to see what he could do with some of the good doctor's spells.

Like the list. Except that Crews has too much of a comedic personality to pull off Cage. Even in the Expendables I had a hard time taking him seriously. Love the idea of Affleck directing a Daredevil movie though.
