The best thing I can say about Bones in recent years is that the episode names have remained consistently great.The actual episodes have become less interesting. This last season was worst by far.

They could take it in a different direction because they wouldn't be tied to the family friendly timeslot. That could be quite interesting to say the least.

I would have imagined that they probably spent a big chunk of the budget in building the set, considering how awful all the CG looked. And with that out of the way could significantly cut the cost to make way for a second season. Someone else will pick it up.
