I'm a pretty avid fan of the walking dead and can’t really help but dislike this show so far. I know that liberties have to be taken with the source material otherwise anyone could just read ahead, but the liberties that are taken just seem like filler and very disjointed. Having a group of several people in the city only goes to further a reason to stay there and not get Rick back to the camp. This took maybe a page or two in the comic, but a whole episode of the show. Another point of contention is the zombies themselves. First what the F is up with these semi fast zombies. A brisk trot is something no one should ever witness a zombie do. The worst of it is a zombie using tools like rocks or bricks to break into the building. Ridiculous!. Heaven help us if they are trying to give these zombies some cognitive reasoning. Why not just make a friendly talking zombie side kick. It’s really laughable. It also seems filled with contrivances and egregiously obvious foreshadowing. Who didn't see that racist's fate being placed in the hands of the focus his bigotry, and that the only thing that they left behind was a bucket of tools, including hacksaw, that Dixon could reach to try and get himself free? I mean how stupid does the writer of this show think it’s viewers are? Who honestly doesn't see him freeing himself and heading towards the camp? I'd guess that he finds his way back to the camp and Carl ends up shooting him instead of Shane to “save his dad”.
The option is there to change up the story and still keep the pacing and impact intact, but as it stands now the product just isn’t indicative of Kirkman/Darabont . It’s no Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, but I'm still disappointing.
