I'm watching I Am Legend for the second time (surprisingly decent) and I've just seen the 'Fred' scene wherein a mannequin manages to move across the city mysteriously and then appears to turn his head to face Will Smith's character. What's up with that scene? Was there any explanation from anyone involved in the production or anything on the DVD commentary?

Directed Viewing: The End of Jarmusch and "The Limits of Control".
This movie is weird. It's so rigid in it's structure and the characters are so self-explanatory (in that they literally explain who/what they are) but I feel strange even trying to criticise it. The only tangible thing I can talk about is the cinematography, which is amazing. I need to see it again at some point because it's one of the few films that I've been completely baffled by.

How this movie should have went:Chinese Girl: What are you going to do?Bale: FUCK THEIR SHIT UP*cue montage of Bale getting suited up interspersed with shots of chinese kids singing*BIG 'OL EXPLOSION, Bale whips out dual pistols from under his priest robes and shoots some dudes, then a kick-ass guitar solo plays and fade to black. The Walking Dead's "Bloodletting" Episode Featured a Lot Less of it Than You'd Probably Like

I wish The Walking Dead had the same attitude to killing off characters as Spooks (MI5 in America), it seems to lean closer to Heroes in that sense were you begin to feel that even if someone is in the most inescapable situation ever they will still make it out. T-Dog, I think, will be the next to go. But they may throw a curve ball and kill off someone ...

Akira Kurosawa and his views on heroics

Although my Kurosawa experience is limited (Rashomon and Seven Samurai) I would say that he had a very realistic view on heroes in that he didn't fully believe in them. Heroes are essentially selfless beings which exist solely to help others but in Seven Samurai the 'heroes' are actually mercenaries.
