I don't think you can blame Tarantino for referencing the Shogun Assassin movies instead of Lone Wolf-- that was the American release of those movies. And from what I've heard they're almost not comparable. The Shogun Assassin series edits together the Lone Wolf movies out of order and totally changed the soundtrack as well.As far as I can tell (without ever having watched either) the two are seemingly very different ...

I've always wanted to watch the Lone Wolf and Cub series, but it's too damn expensive. And god, what I wouldn't give for a good movie set in feudal Japan. WE NEED MORE OF THOSE HOLLYWOOD.I KNOW YOU'RE LISTENING.STOP IGNORING ME.okay fine.

Yeah this doesn't look as offensively bad as the last trailer, but it still doesn't look like it'll bring much more than some really lazy humor.

Sometimes a director gets incredible freedom to create their magnum opus. Sometimes they learn it's good to have some boundaries.

I watched this for the first time with my friends earlier in the week. They didn't like it.I don't see them anymore.

So, my local conglomerate theater recently showed a bunch of digital prints of "classic" films (Jurassic Park, Spaceballs, Robocop, etc). Is this as gross to me as it is to you?Personally I love going to the small independently owned theatre to watch prints of classic movies, meet like-minded people, openly drink in the theater, and don't want to see them pushed out of business any faster than is already happening. ...

@litrock said:The Third Man. You NEED The Third Man. Don't go without! Seriously!YES!It's a great counter-piece to Casablanca, but works well against any American noir. Make sure you check it out Joey!

I'm going to echo Ryan Gosling for Drive, but the bigger upset for me is the lack of Brad Pitt. I thought his performance in Tree of Life was fucking amazing.

We all give him a lot of grief (cause we love him), but Cage can actually be a pretty solid actor. The Academy agrees. Find the films they considered to be his best performances.

He's one of our 'greatest' living actors, but his attempt at a southern drawl in this blockbuster action flick is pure unintentional hilarity.

@TonyMoro21 said:FUCK NOLAN!!!!!! His "Batman" DOES NOT resemble ANY PART of the well-respected 70+ year mytholgy. All Nolan is doing is spitting in the face of the mythology. NOLAN SUCKS!!!!!!! He has officially BUTCHERED Batman.DURRRPPPPPPPPPP.

The trailer is pretty excellent I thought, with the exception of that silly football scene. Both the Dark Knight and this film are very emblematic of the times in which they were released-- The Dark Knight was very much a commentary on Bush-era wartime tactics, and this film is obviously reflecting the growing tension between the upper and lower class. I can see Catwoman being appropriated to fit the role of ...

Hey Matt! Love the site to death! How do you feel about where Screened is right now as a website, and what is the top priority for you guys to move the site forward? As a quick aside I also love the new book club feature, any chance of making Remains of the Day one of the books to read? I know you've mentioned how much you love the film but haven't ...

@Atwa said:A review from The Guardian UK, it is bad.. so bad in fact even the word rape was used.http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2011/oct/18/how-could-do-this-tintinA life-long Tintin fan says that watching the film was like witnessing a rape. What a level-headed individual.Surely this is not an example of hyperbole, and this individual should be taken very seriously. He spends nearly the entirety of that long-winded tirade pouring over his personal feelings about the comics (in very ...

Okay Tom, you make some good points about Snake, but if you're qualifier for being a badass relies on how much ass they kick, then I don't know how you can make the argument that Burton is a bigger badass-- the dude gets knocked out, or misses every battle!
