Movies I've Seen Since Screened.com Launched
Hey. Starting May 12, 2010, I'm hoping to add every movie I watch to this little list. Some of them will be movies I've already seen, obviously, but let's hope there'll be some good ones in here. I may wind up ranking these by order of preference, or just keep them chronological - we'll see!
1. The Straight Story

Feature fodder!

2. Winter’s Bone

Everyone's raving about Jennifer Laurence, but I think John Hawkes might actually be better in this.

3. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

POTTEROCALYPSE 2010!

4. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

POTTEROCALYPSE 2010!

5. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

POTTEROCALYPSE 2010!

6. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

POTTEROCALYPSE 2010!

7. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

POTTEROCALYPSE 2010!

8. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

POTTEROCALYPSE 2010!

9. Love and Other Drugs

Staff Review

10. Burlesque

11. Exam

Interesting movie! Might write it up as a user review or something.

12. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I

Staff Review

13. Morning Glory

Staff Review

14. Exit Through the Gift Shop

Netflix!

15. Mademoiselle Chambon

16. Unknown

17. Triangle

Netflix Rental

18. The Tempest

Staff Review

19. The King's Speech

Staff Review

20. Tiny Furniture

Staff Review

21. How Do You Know

Staff Review

22. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Staff Review

23. Die Hard

Screening Room

24. TRON

Screening Room

25. Le Samouraï

Interesting film. Not sure how in the world that title was translated as "The Godson", though.

26. The Killing Room

Interesting but ultimately a failure of a film.

27. The Brave One

Mehhhhh. Vigilante films are a genre that doesn't work very well when the movies equivocate about the vigilantism quite this much.

28. J.S.A.: Joint Security Area

Not a fan.

29. The Town

Enjoyed myself! Blake Lively was fantastic.

30. Country Strong

Staff review!

Great idea, I think I'm gonna go make one of these too.

ditto.

I thought (500) Days of Summer was okay. It got better when things got worse for Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character. When he is actually dating Summer it was kind of lame (I'm looking at you Ikea scene).

I say pshaw to Eva Mendes. Nicolas Cage was extraordinary in that film however. Been revisiting his films lately, one of the most unique actors at the very least. No one can do over the top quite like he does.

Glad you loved 500 :)

Made my own list in response to this one.  Seems like a good way to keep track of movies that I recently watched.

Are you taking requests?
Rorieon May 17, 2010 at 11:09 a.m.
@Soundtrack:  Hmm, I dunno! I have plenty of stuff in my Netflix queue that I need to work through. I'm aiming for a movie a day, but we'll see how long I can keep that up - it's not easy to catch a movie during the day with all the submission approvals and the like.
Shaunageon May 18, 2010 at 10:28 p.m.
I liked Bad Lieutenant a lot more than you did, by the sounds of it. I suppose that's why we have a user review system in place.
Rorieon May 19, 2010 at 12:26 a.m.
@Shaunage:  I didn't hate it by any means, but it was built up quite a bit by friends and people I like online, so it was bound to be a bit disappointing. I guess in the end it didn't really wind up making me feel anything, which is still what I look for in a movie. Well-made and well-acted, though.

I created a similar list (well, I stole your idea) and it made me realise how little I actually get the opportunity to watch movies now. I am up to about 13 and that has been with a concerted effort to watch more films. I blame full time employment really, back at uni and school days I would power through films, now 2 and a bit hours is a serious chunk of time.

I didn't realize I stole your list idea! I guess great minds think alike. If I have one criticism about your list, it's that it's not ordered from most recent. I mean, MINE is. :P
Rorieon July 19, 2010 at 4:50 p.m.
@fuzzay:  It is ordered in that way; I've just gotten too lazy to add the dates.
PatheticManon July 23, 2010 at 2:14 a.m.
Ooh - I've got two days to watch Tell No One for free on the LOVEFiLM website and this list has now convinced me to watch it tonight.
IkariNoTekkenon Sept. 18, 2010 at 2:28 p.m.
I re-watched Leon the other night and can't say I agree with you, the performances were great all round. In my opinion it still outshines most films released since it's release in 93.
Also can't see how the age would effect the 'creepiness' of the film, it that is what you were suggesting?

Not sure if the uncut version was ever released in the US, but if so is that the version you watched? If not then most of the scenes that Americans considered 'creepy' in the original screening were not included. A shame as I feel these scenes are necessary for further developing Leon and Mathilda as characters. Also several other scenes were cut as some portrayed Mathilda as being in-danger, these were not crucial to the story but great scenes nonetheless.

However I agree more with your opinion of Bad Lieutenant, it was indeed well acted (One of the Cage's better performances in recent years) but I came out of the cinema feeling empty, not what I would call memorable.

Good stuff keep it coming.
Anandfulnesson Nov. 17, 2010 at 2:37 p.m.
I'm going to steal your idea. Hope you don't mind.
