Seriously Fun Documentaries About Wrestlers, Weirdos & Wisconsinites .
I'd also like to suggest Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade, a documentary about the record holders in many classic arcade games. It features some of the personalities from King of Kong, like Billy Mitchell and Mr. Awesome, but it goes into more depth about the entire scene rather than focusing on one record.

What version of a movie do you watch first?

Depends on the movie. I'll usually stick with Theatrical unless I read somewhere that the director's cut is vastly superior, like with Blade Runner or Kingdom of Heaven.

Nicked's suggestions are two good ones, and are pretty standard texts in most of the intro film classes I've been a part of. If you want to delve further into genre-specific books, and you're a fan of film-noir, More Than Night by James Naremore is a terrific overview and analysis of it.

Hidden Gems should stay. With a name like that, wasn't that forum designed to get less traffic anyway? Fun While It Lasted: First Class Sequel To Be Written By Guy Who Did X-Men: The Last Stand.
This isn't THAT terrible. X-Men: The Last Stand, while terrible, had a very rushed production. Basically, Tom Rothman, the head of Fox, decided the summer before that they were going to have an X-Men movie in theaters. This gave them only 1 year to go from no script to completed film, which is why we got the rushed, mishmash of different story threads we ended up getting.

I hope they get away from the quick-cut Michael Bay style action scenes from the original. If they're truly making this series as an homage to 80s action movies, they need to slow down the editing. Also, for my own amusement they need much more chugga-chugga bro-rock on the soundtrack.
