General Discussion » Which Annoying Film Fan are you?

I'm probably the trivia guy, although I see nothing on the list about loving obscure cult films.

General Discussion » What is the biggest shock you have had watching a movie?

Probably the ending of Audition:

I love Miike's films, but Audition is the one I've never wanted to watch a second time.

General Discussion » Scariest movie characters

@Mistress_Redhead: Sexy Beast rules! Ben Kingsley is amazing in it. Plus I'm crazy about Ray Winstone and Ian McShane, too.

@Catastrophic:  Nekromantik or I Spit On Your Grave

If you're into Japanese cinema I high recommend Audition or Visitor Q.

DVD » Worst movie you actually own?

I own copies of Spiderbabe, Pervirella and Flesh For The Beast. All three are very sad affairs.

Off-Topic » Your avatar....and why.

I have Cthulhu. Mostly because I love H.P. Lovecraft, but also because this image was the basis for my largest tattoo.

Off-Topic » Are you going to Comic-Con?

Any Screened readers or staff heading to San Diego next week? What are you looking forward to seeing?

Usually I'm there every year with a table, but this time I'm just attending for the weekend. I'm planning to check out the Futurama and Robert E. Howard panels on Saturday. And I'll probably buy a lot of useless crap on the show floor. Apparently last year Shinya Tsukamoto was there for an early peak of Tetsuo the Bullet Man but I didn't find out about it until a day later. I'm hoping I actually get to see something awesome like that this year.

Evil Dolls » Evil Doll movies?

Alex's news story about the next Saw movie (in 3D) got me thinking about flicks with evil dolls. So I made a concept page for it. I figured it should be a concept separate from the Puppet object page, since not all evil dolls in films are necessarily puppets and evil dolls are a recurring concept in horror films.

Anyway, I've added a bunch of movies to the page but I'm sure I'm missing some. Can anyone help fill it out?

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End » Tried watching Pirates of the Caribbean 3; Couldn't make it

@Matt: That's the problem! If it weren't for Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush I could just write off these movies altogether. But dammit, there are actors that I like involved. Jerks.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End » Tried watching Pirates of the Caribbean 3; Couldn't make it

@RottenVixen: Thanks. Most of that seems pretty by-the-numbers. Like, what the hell else were they going to do? Bad guy dies, lovey-dovey couple gets married, heroes head off to continue their adventures. Everyone's happy! Except me...

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End » Tried watching Pirates of the Caribbean 3; Couldn't make it

I loved The Curse of the Black Pearl but I really didn't like Dead Man's Chest. So I never saw At World's End because I didn't want to face the disappointment. But hearing that Ian McShane will be in On Stranger Tides rekindled my interest in the franchise. So I figured I'd better watch the third film.

The other night I got about an hour into it before shutting the thing off. It's just awful. I thought maybe I'd try it again over the weekend, but by Monday I realized I was never going to watch it. So back to Netflix it went!

Has anyone else had this happen with this movie? Am I missing anything by giving up on it? Despite my experience I'm still looking forward to Part 4.

General Discussion » Need help finding World War I movies

This is somewhat coincidental since that remake of All Quiet on the Western Front was just announced: I'm doing research into American-involved battles of WWI. I'm trying to find films or documentaries that have good battle footage. I've found some old newsreels on YouTube, but they don't really show any actual fighting, just soldiers running out of trenches.

Does anyone know of some good WWI films that show the American soldier's experience? I'm hoping for some scenes of bayonet action, rifles firing, etc.

I can think of some people on here who really enjoy exploitation films and have uploaded a lot of pictures with nudity. Also, what has two thumbs and really enjoys exploitation films? Answer: This guy.

@Matt: You think so? I figured someone was just being weird, or maybe they're a grammar Nazi. The next time I notice it I'll be sure to point it out!

Editing & Tools » "Whilst" pisses me off

I'm not sure who's doing it, but I've noticed someone has gone into articles written by myself and others and changed the word "while" to "whilst." It's totally bizarre. I sort of feel like I might be dreaming the whole thing, but I swear to god it's true. I hate the word "whilst." I think it's pretentious. Why is this happening??
