I used to visit Screened every day, but it was almost entirely for the video content and the podcast. And while their written coverage was always more or less run-of-the-mill movie/tv news (what's on tonight, upcoming shows, etc.) it was always written with personality and humor. But since the transition, Screened has been providing absolutely nothing that I can't get by setting up some Google blog alerts for generic keywords.Giant Bomb ...

The show should be about Peter Stomare and William H. Macy's characters ending up as cellmates in prison, in a sort of Schillinger/Beecher relationship.

I thought it was a really good couple hours of TV. There were some great acting/character moments. My favorite was when Pete walks into the break room with Peggy holding Joan's baby - there's an ever-so-brief look of horror on his face, followed by the two of them standing there awkwardly. It didn't have much to do with the plot, but I thought it was one of many well played moments.

Good movie, definitely. But watching the clips in this video, it's amazing how poorly CGI ages. I remember thinking that everything in the movie looked pretty much photorealistic when I saw it in the theater. Now...not so much.

@mathewfinch said: @MrMazz:the spirit of capitalism is two people entering into a negotiation, and both agreeing on a price. In Capitalism, both people leave getting something that they wanted. When the two parties cannot see eye to eye on a price, one walks away, simple enough. And on top of that, I'm pretty sure that the legal system doesn't recognize a cause of action for engaging in conduct that isn't in ...

This may be the most retarded movie I've ever been excited to see.

This is almost as stupid as when Lucas' explanation of the whole Kessel Run/Parsec business. Just admit that you didn't know what a "parsec" was when you wrote the line! Nobody would have held it against you!

Instant watch is a pretty good deal, if only for the fairly large catalog of TV shows available on it, which will keep me occupied indefinitely. I was happy to give up DVD rentals, because there's an awesome video store a short walk from my house (Four Star Video in Bernal Heights, San Francisco - check it out if you live nearby).

@bombedyermom said: I thought it was illegal to show swastikas in germany? There are exceptions. One of them is that Nazi iconography can be used in works of fiction. Inglorious Basterds was released in Germany without any legal trouble, for example (though they did take the swastika off of the poster in that country), and the movie Downfall was filmed and released in Germany, and the whole thing is about Hitler, and features ...

@Cuuniyevo said:Now, I'm not trying to defend the remake, but this is the theory I came up with after watching it: The wormhole at the beginning sent them back in time, not forwards, to a point in very early human history, and the apes aboard the space station were smart enough to develop into the society you see in the bulk of the movie (probably due to *SCIENCE*). Then whatshisname ...

I'd never even heard of The Raid before I saw the trailer in this article.Holy shit does that look like an awesome movie. Great trailer, too. Looks like it was made by people who actually know why we go to action movies.

Netflix has encouraged studios to charge ever-higher prices for streaming deals. It's now looking like its heyday was last year, when it seemed like they were getting new, good content every week. It worked for them for a while, but they had to know that the model was unsustainable.Soon, Netflix and the studios will probably start to realize that their real competition is piracy, and that they'll have to work ...

@Nadafinga said:About the response I expected to this movie. Although I hope they don't do another prequel, like Rorie predicts. I'd rather see a proper sequel (Paranormal Activity 2 spoilers ahead):Ali (the daughter) is the only one who lived from the second film.
