I'm not exactly sure what's so bone headed about the quote. Yes, a 58 million dollar budget is indeed more than what studios are willing to spend on an all black movie. I'm kind of surprised no Smaug footage. I never really cared for the Hobbit. I had nothing against it, but to me it is the Dragonball to LOTR's DragonBall Z.
