It is, and that makes my heart super happy.

Now look at what you made me do. I quoted Ni Hao Kai-Lan. I'm the worst.

General Discussion » Would you rather watch a happy movie with a sad ending or a sad movie with a happy ending?

Oh man, this reply of mine is late. In my defense, I was watching some of the movies mentioned here that I hadn't seen. Those films that take an emotional downturn really stick with you better. Quality is very important, but leaving with that intense melancholy really gives you something to think about.

I'll be over here, picking my broken heart up off of the floor.

Alright, so this has probably been asked before but is something I'm curious about.

When you get to the end of a film with an emotional twist, do you prefer it when it's a happy ending and you leave feeling better or do you prefer the tugs at your heartstrings as you walk off after seeing something sad? I myself am an emotional nitwit who likes the fantasy of everyone living happily ever after.

Screencast » Rorie you kill me a little more each time...

@PatVB said:

I actually find it hilarious whenever this happens. I love hearing Alex try his hardest to make a joke happen while Rorie just completely ignores him.

Definitely agree there. It's either laugh at the silence or laugh because everyone else is so tickled. Only options!

@Mistress_Redhead said:

We should band together and raise money to get Alex a laugh track...

Should be like tested. Just have people phone in them laughing, personalize it with a "Oh Alex, you so cray-cray! Ahahahahaha!"

@Vichyssoise said:

Does Rocky Horror count?

That's more of a party. You'd be the odd one out if you didn't join in!

I remember commentary when I went to see some cop movie around a baseball card... Cop Out, I think. That movie was fucking terrible and my sister picks poor choices, but the commentary we provided made me and a few viewers around us feel better. We don't really run into that often and we really don't comment unless we're the only ones there.

J. Edgar » Do you think Leo plays well as an older character?

@brainboy77: True. He's pretty much typecast for that sort of role now, it seems. I'm just a sucker for the Great Gatsby, though. Like, the biggest sucker, even.

@mylifeforAiur: You have to admit, though, he did a pretty good job in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. That was the role I remember seeing him in first.

J. Edgar » Do you think Leo plays well as an older character?

I've always thought he's done a great job and he's really grown as an actor. I like him a lot better in these more recent roles.

...I also say this because I'm hella excited to see him as Gatsby.
